Combining induction technique with RC

I was thinking about FILD technique and how the action of doing a breathing RC (raising your hand to block your nostrils) can be counterproductive - if your FILD has failed it'll wake you up more than you want.

Would it be possible to get the two finger action to double as a RC if you taped your fingers (the index and middle finger) together gently? At the end of the FILD 'pressing' you could try to separate your fingers (in a Churchill 'V') and if you're successful you know you've probably gone into a LD. Would mean you could try another FILD attempt quite soon without waking yourself too much.

Seems like a pretty good idea, try it out. I actually had some weird idea, it goes something like this. When I wake up in the middle of the night to WILD, I put a quarter on my forehead, and keeping my focus on it shouldn't be too hard, lol.
