I am fairly new at this, and during my dream i was flying, and i realized i was dreaming. All of a sudden, everything went black, and 5 minutes later of not moving, i was awake (i did an RC) this has happened to me before? How do i get around this?

Welcome to dreamviews lucidmike!
It appears that you are just leaving the dream, before doing anything in the dream try to anchor yourself. Looking at your hands or spinning should help to stabilize the dream. Also good job on flying:)
thanks! ok, i will try that.
Yea, most people wake up cuz of the rush. Eventually you'll get the hang and be able to stay lucid longer.
I just had my first LD when trying to have one (I've had some spontaneous ones before I knew what LDing was) and the same thing happened to me. Pretty much as soon as I realized I was dreaming, I woke up because I was so excited! I've seen other people say that this is pretty common at first, but as you get more used to LDing, you don't get as overly excited and are able to stay in the dream. I'm looking forward to trying!
thanks, everyone, you're probably right, when i tried WILDing, i got so excited it stopped, so i will keep trying!
This is actually very common when you're having some of those first lucids, so don't feel bad at all. Typically, when you get lucid, you get a little excited and just wake yourself up. It takes a little practice to stay calm when you get lucid, but it's something that you'll likely pick up very quickly so don't worry. :)
Personally spinning doesn't help me stabilize dreams, so I normally have to rub my hands or put my hands on a wall or the floor in the dream. those are just other things you can try. Everyone is different, so whatever works best for you. Pretty much anything that keeps your senses on the dream senses and keeps your mind off your physical body.
Don't worry too much. When you first get started out in Lucid Dreaming, dreams will be pretty short.
Just keep at it and read up on some dream stabilization tutorials.
Good luck!
Im the exact same ive found spinning to not work personally because im engaging my dream body with blurred or sometimes lost vision. I like to rub my hands over something or together and just stop and take everything in and stabilize the dreamscape frist then go off with increased awareness as well. My majority of my first lucid dreams were short but grew longer with time. Keep at it Mike, its well worth it:)
Yes! 2 nights ago i had my first LD, it was about 5 minutes long, but i rubbed my hands together and was like screming and it held together! thanks for the advice
Good job to the above poster on staying in his dream for longer! That's quite an accomplishment!!! I know from experience that it feels very rewarding!!
Preventing the thing you fear you can't prevent... waking up!
good job!
Yay! I'm glad it helped you. As you have more lucids, you'll find that with practice they will get even longer and more stable. So keep at it! :D
Nice work so great to hear!!:D
