Anyone used 'electric shock' to induce LDs?

Hi, just wondering about what I'm about to do....using a low power high voltage source that can be bought from electronic hobby stores that generates high voltage to cause a non-fatal electrical shock that I think can be used as a cue to lucidity since we don't normally get electric shocks it'll be an anomaly in conventional awareness in the dream. It would be connected to a timer that is resettable but my main concern is conditioning. The mind may be 'traumatised' and create insomnia...:P. Another way of using it is by MILD. The idea of recieving a shock from the device may be enough to create a dream about getting one thereby trigering lucidity since the device was intended for lucid dreaming there may be a link to an RC.

Whoa, I can't say I recommend this. With a bit of bad luck, low voltage/low powered shock can stop the human heart. I would be careful. Also, the slight shock could wake you up, rather than make you lucid. Electricity is one of those things that is hard to counter. I think it would be near impossible to remain asleep through electric shock. Good Luck anyhow! If it manages to work for you, I would be interested in hearing the story!

Yeah, its a bit extreme I think. I would use it as a last resort technique possibly, but there are so much easier (and safer) ways to induce lucidity. You could train yourself to reality check every time you hear a certain song, and then play that song quietly while you sleep. Often time you'll hear it in your dream. That would be a good EILD technique. Better than electric shock I would expect.

You could set your phone to vibrate and put it under your pillow, or near your side.

I once set my iPod to a song that would play in the middle of the night. Not only did it wake me up, it made me jump and my heartbeat went rapid. Of course, the volume was reasonably high and the song was a House beat.
