A Question to those that have achieved lucidity

As I despaired earlier about being worried that I may never achieve this (even though I am only on my fifth day), a thought occurred to me: surely other people have faced this. It obviously takes time and patience (for most, anyway) to be able to become lucid at will.

So what I wonder is this: who out there - who has since been able to have lucid dreams - reached points where they never thought they would be able to do it? Or where they were almost ready to give up?

How far into it did you feel like that? If you ever felt like that, at what stage did you overcome that and feel confident that you would achieve this goal?

You will be able to do it, but it requires a hella effort.

If you don't put in the effort of the dream journal and wilding when just trying to get to sleep at night and WBTBs you most likely won't get it.


I've been really lazy lately and need to start my journal again, because last time I was doing it, I was having little tiny lucids here and there.

Yes, for most people you need to keep a DJ and do RCs and WBTBs and thinking to yourself that you know that you're dreaming for a MILD and such.

I don't mean to brag, but

I got my first LD way before I knew about what they were. Then like 2 years later, I started having a small handful of them, still not knowing what they were. Then I looked up on the internet to find out more about what was happening to me. Then I figured it out, and started doing RCs, and I didn't have to do them that often to get an occasional LD.

So, I think that the reason that this happened to me was (this could eventually be true for you too, that's why I'm mentioning this)

because I was first of all, just plain lucky to get some LDs without any work. But unfortuanatly, most people do honestly need to work very hard to get even a few. But, chances are, when you start getting a few LDs and you have decent recall, you'll be able to get some more, even without any work (just maybe not as often), but for most, it's still a good idea to keep up with the motivation.

So, just keep trying very hard to get a LD, this may take a few months, for some people it can take this long. But with one LD, another may follow within a month, and the more LDs that you get, the more likely it will be that you will become lucid again soon

It does take time and patience.

Like Luciddreamsavy I started having LD's before I knew what they were.

I got into it through trying astral projection (what I know of course know as WILDing). I used the old occult methods and found I could have an OOBE/WILD about once every two months. I found that I would normally have a strange dream before hand where I knew I was dreaming and could fly around with concious control and so on. I became curious as to what this strange type of dream was and did a little research - and now here I am.

I have been practicing WILD and DILD techniques for over a year now.

After my first month I increased my success rate to 1 lucid a month. After three months I got to 2 or three a month. After 6 months or so 1 per week. 6 to 9 months at least 2 per week. In the last three months I can now LD with a 90+% success rate.

I experimented with supplements, Binaural Beats, REM dreamer mask, WILD, DILD, MILD plus dream journals, affirmations and ritual, reality checks, training the prospective memory, etc.

To get to the point I am now where over the weekend I know I am going to have at least 2-3 long lucids a night has taken a substantial amount of time (and even money). However - its been worth every minute. I had one wonderful long vivid WILD last night followed by 2 bonus DEILD's and expect more tonight.

I use somewhat extreme measures - I take ALOT of supplements etc. I will post my Extreme WILD method later.

Is it worth the tiny amount of effort to have infinite freedom for a short period of time? YES.

Is lucid dreaming easy? YES. (Don't take my word for it. Read EWOLD. ;))


The most important elements of lucid dreaming are time, sleep, patience, motivation, confidence, and dream journals.

Your ability to have lucid dreams should improve on its own over time. Never fear.

it took me months but after the first its much easier and by your 10th you should be having them often. within a few weeks i should have them every night
