Dry spell over
After about a 20 day dry spell, I had an LD early this morning. What a relief...I'm hopelessly addicted to the feeling that I get when I realize that I'm dreaming.
I felt that something was odd about the place I was in and thought I might be dreaming. I tried to fly to test reality and lifted off as soon as I thought of flying.
I use WBTB and MILD. After 6 1/2 hours of sleep, I woke up and read for 1/2 an hour. I went back to bed but the odd thing is that I couldn't clear my mind of random thoughts. After an hour of tossing and turning and an incessant, stupid song repeating itself in my mind, I gave up on LD's for the morning and just tried to get some sleep. Sure enough, about 30 minutes later, I had the LD.
Maybe the lesson is to lighten up? I try not to be too intense when I MILD...but now I'm not sure if it's better to say your affirmation until you drift off to sleep or to affirm your intention once or twice and then just sleep. This was my seventh Lucid Dream since early November and the second one that happened after I thought that I was hopelessly awake and would never get back to sleep.
Hope this helps those of you who are in dry spells like I was.

I find that when I'm going to sleep if I think about dreaming too much my heart beat gets really powerful and the feeling of it beating keeps me awake. I've been taking about 2 naps a day recently and sleeping for only 4-5 hours a night and it's been helping my recall I've noticed. The problem I've been having with napping though is the people in my house are more prone to wake a napper than they are a sleeper, and so when I'm woken up there is usually something that I have to do and don't have time to write my dream down and it's usually lost within a few minutes. I guess this would be a sort of full day MILD technique. I've also been getting really strange dreams at night, which I'm hoping will help me incubate lucids.
