How long have you been trying to DILD? And a week of RCs isn't enough; you have to practice longer than that.
Only a week? Keep at it because a week is not long to learn to lucid dream. For most it takes up to a month to lucid dream. Only the lucky few could learn to LD within a week. Keep trying and don't give up. Take me for example. I've been here for about a month now, and only one very very short lucid dream. It takes practice and dedication.
As for recall, what method do you use to recall your dreams? I suggest to lay there once you wake up, with your eyes still closed, and backtrack through your dreams. Start with the very last thing that happened, and then ask yourself, "What happened before that?" "Where was I before that?" Once you got the dream firmly into your mind, you can then get up and write it down.
Hope that helps!
Try being more aware about the world around you; more observant. Constantly look at things to see if they're wierd-looking, or out of place. This is more important than just doing 'routine RCs', in my opinion. If you get used to doing RCs as a simple routine, then you'll do them in your dream without much thought as to why you are doing them, and the reason. I'm extremely observant and critical about what things look like, taste like, and smell like, being an artist, you know? Maybe this is why I've had so many LDs in being here only a month. It can take a while to develop this skeptisism but I think it really, really helps. Good luck.
I just remembered a dream and wrote it down this morning. So thats good. I have a journal next to my bed and when i remember a dream i turn over and grab the journal and write it down. I think your right about doing routine rcs and they would just become routine and would not be effective. Ill try to be more aware all the time.
So basically if i only do rcs in the real world when something strange happens then it will become second nature. But how would that make my dream lucid if i do a rc?
I LD about once a week, only recall 1 dream a night and don't RC and anyway 3 dreams a night is really good. Try a mantra if you want
I tried mantras. I think that helps with my dream recall. I remembered all my dream last night.
