A technique of my own device: SAILD Method

This is a method I've had recent success with. Over the past 3 weeks since starting this method, I've had a Lucid Dream every 2-3 nights, and a total of 9 Lucid Dreams (that I have failed to record on this website due to laziness :P). My method is called SAILD, which is short for Self-Addressed Induction of Lucid Dreams. The method is quick and easy to perform. There are only a few steps required:

1. Find a room with no windows, a shuttable door and a large mirror (a bathroom/washroom).

2. Before you go to sleep, go into this room, close the door and turn off the lights, looking at the mirror. State your goal aloud, replacing the word 'I' with 'You' (in this case, "Tonight YOU, (your name here), will have a lucid dream that YOU will remember upon awakening."

3. Turn on the lights and repeat the same thing to yourself aloud, looking your reflection in the eyes and not breaking eye contact.

I have found that it also helps to go to bed an hour or so later than you normally do, so you are tired and will fall asleep immediately with the thought on your mind (although don't concentrate TOO hard, or you won't get to sleep :P).

Please post your results with my technique, I have found that this is the only technique that really works for me.

Hmm this sounds interesting I might try this...,

btw does it HAVE to be large oh and I don't have a room without any windows... how about at night and with the curtains closed, would this work?

Heh, that would be quite funny if I got caught :P That never sprung to mind...... Oh well I'm sure I'll be safe... I hope, I mean I wouldn't do it while someone's in the room, would I?

As long as the room is just as dark as when you close your eyes it should work out fine, and the mirror should be large enough to see at least from your shoulders up, and it adds to the effect if the mirror isn't handheld.

Damn it I don't have a big enough mirror :mad:

It sounds interesting. I've been trying to convince myself that I'll definitely have an LD for a while now. I'll try this for the next few nights.

Luckily there's a mirror in my house that lets me see the whole of my body. :lol:

I'm gonna try again though, and maybe focus a little more this time...

Wow. Interesting idea. I'll give this a go tonight, since I find myself pretty succeptable to self suggestion anyway.

Well that's a shame... I've found that some people are more susceptible to certain methods than others. For instance, WBTB isn't a very successful method for me, as well as HILD... I do the methods to the letter, with no lucid dreams at all... then I accidentally stumble upon the idea for this method while falling asleep, and it works like a charm! It's good to hear you'll be giving it another chance though. If you find a successful method, stick to it, no matter how many exorcists your parents have to call to your house :wink: . Boomer out!

but when you look in the mirror in the dark, are you supposed to be able to see yourself?

Very cool. I tried this method for the first time last night, and I had my first lucid dream very easily.

I'd like to try this method, but sadly there are windows in every room of my house (except of course, the closets). :P

I'm too scared to do this method. At camp once someone said that if you do the same scenario and say some stuff about someone named mary and her baby, she comes in the mirror. I know it's very impossible, but I don't want to try. I'm scared. :eek:
