Question Progress journal, not dream journal

So, as the title says progress journal. I have found that I get good results using WILD method and seeing what effects the progress of it. Like having a certaint sleep schedule and all that. Anyways, I was wondering if I actually need a dream journal so much if I have a progress journal. This reason I am using a progress journal is becuase I figured that you don't real need to have good recall using the WILD method. I am not trying to improve my recall, I am already good at that, but I have made good advances using a progress journal. I am more constant at that in a way and it helps out more with enthuesiasm. I can see what I need work at. So far I see more clearly that I need to keep a constant everything.

recommend anything? Do I real need a dream journal for wild?

The reasons people have dream journals vary. not everybody 'needs' to have a dream journal. Why do most people have dream journals? because it helps build recall. Why do most people want to build recall? to understand their dreams better, locate dream signs, and hopefully successfully lucid dream. If you're successfully WILDing, then no, there is no NEED for you to have one. Personally though, I think that keeping a dream journal is a good idea, even if it only supplies you with some good, funny reads later on. It's nice looking back over your old dreams!

That's a giant FALSE. There are many situations in which poor recall will screw you over, even with WILD. For instance, if you fade into a non-lucid dream, and don't have good recall, chances are you'll remember only the non-lucid part, as it was most recent. Also, once you do wake from that long-awaited lucid dream, even if you've found the control to wake up at the very end, those with shit recall will find the details will dull, and entire story arcs will be lost.

Also, what happens weeks from the dream? Will the non-journaler still remember what went on? Maybe they'd have an inkling as to the jist of it, but all detail, and most accompanied emotion will be swallowed by the distortions of time. . .

That being said, keeping a progress journal in conjunction with a dream journal sounds like a spectacular idea, which I'd recommend to everyone, but doubt they'd actually put in the required effort. A progress journal will prove a great asset to you when using the scientific method to pinpoint the exact conditions during which you have lucid dreams most frequently.

You could always do both a progress journal, and a dream journal in one go. Thats how i do it. Only thing is i hate how much my hand writing sucks when i wake up lol

If you are happy with your recall, it really isn't needed. Though you can always improve your recall. If not in your wilds, then in your normal dreams when you go to bed each night.

Abra is probably right though. People normally have great recall during WILDs. Though that is mostly true if you wake yourself up, or accidently wake up before you lose control of the WILD.

If your WILD's last a long time, the longer it goes the higher the chance of you forgetting things or slipping into a normal dream. Though the point might be moot. If you never get a wild that last longer than 5 minutes, its probably not an issue.

If you get really good and you can enter a WILD and keep it going for 30 minutes or something, that is totally different. The thing about dream journals, is that they have quick results.

You can try it a few times and just see if it helps. No reason not to give it a try, it only takes a sheet of paper. If the improvements are not what you expect just stop.

If you want to remember your dreams yes, unless you already have good dream recall, but even then, its easy to forget

I'd log in it every day. It keeps your dream detail sharp, and will help you remember every precious moment after a lucid dream.
