Dreaming, much like being in France...

The past few nights I've been having some interesting dreams that have lead me to the hypothesis that, in many cases, dreaming is like being in France (If you're French, replace France with England)

Allow me to explain what I mean.

Whenever I go to France (or any country, really) I am totally aware that I'm in France for every waking moment. That doesn't mean I walk about thinking "I'm in France, I'm in France", just that it is always obvious. I don't need to think twice to know that people I meet will probably be speaking French, signs will usually be in French, everyone will be driving on the other side of the road, these things are obvious, without questioning where I am.

So, the dreams I've been having have been very much like that. I totally expect the logic to be a little shaky and reality to be unreliable because in the back of my mind I am aware that this environment is a dream, but I never articulate that thought or take it any further, so I go through the dream without any incling that there's 'something I should be doing' (i.e a reality check, flying, etc.) or even that there is anything odd about the situation. The furthest it goes is thinking 'of course it's odd, dreams usually are odd' and I carry on with whatever I'm dreaming about.

has anyone got any suggestions on how to take this further and trigger full lucidity?

Last night's one was a killer; someone told me that they are aware when they are dreaming and they practice for things like exams. I explained that I'm interested in lucid dreams and told him all about the La Berge book I'm reading, but it wasn't till I woke up that I fully realised my oversight, D'oh!!

also, do these count as low level lucids? I wasn't fully 'lucid' in the dictionary sense of the word so this seems a bit of a grey area to me.

France is a great country to visit, seems to get friendier and more laid back the further south you go but it's all relative, the north is cool too.

Yes, I am reading 'exploring the world of lucid dreaming', great book so far. I read his first book a couple of months ago, which was also good; fascinating and very informative but I've still not got to the bottom of this whole LD thing... yet!

      thanks for the reply :-)

Sounds interesting, very interesting (hand on chin) l love those dreams in which someone talks to you about lucidity, amazing feeling of self-realization when that happens, without becoming lucid! I was in a lucid induction building, in which a doctor proscribed a drug to allow me to become lucid, but i found it was a rip-off (lol) What you mentioned above is interesting, i never thought about it but going to different counties is like lucid dreaming everything is new to you, living in England at the moment, familiar with mostly everything around my area (did live in Cornwall for 3 years, miss the place like hell cause it induced lucidity) But when you travel (I want to go France for a holiday) everything is new, going to walk around for a few hours like in a trance of lucidity (its all new information for your subconscious). Going to try and think about Lucidity as traveling to new Continents in which I need to learn/see the native tongue, the architecture, the major art exhibits and the pleasurable places to go, saying to myself "I’m in France, I’m in France" (Lucid Trigger?)...I might travel via Imagination Airway's, they usually have good flights this time of year, cheap too I hear.

I am unable to answer your question,

“has anyone got any suggestions on how to take this further and trigger full lucidity”

The best thing to do is look at the question and answer it in your own way, it got you to the step of thinking about lucidity, maybe it will take you to the next?

Your reading LeBerges "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming"? that is an excellent book, all the answers I had were contained in those pages.

France, we come from France! Sorry, watched too many Coneheads episodes <

Anyway, I know what you mean. I've been to France a few times as well. You don't conciously think of it, but small subtle things always put you off balance, like rooflines, or the automobiles.

Sounds to me like you are on the borderline of being lucid in these dreams.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

The whole world is full of terrorists, but it's not full of France, kinda like all dreams are full of dream, but not all dreams are full of lucid. That means that lucids and France are special and may also be connected in some way, like cohorts in some grand scheme. Whoa...that was deep . I've got to lie down.

For serious, when you're in a different location, you tend to know it without asking yourself to verify it. Lucids, I think, have their own vibration, meaning that you feel a certain way before actually having one. Have you ever been on your way to sleep and had the confident sensation that a lucid would be inevitable? As far as France and dreaming, the techniques that we employ are to send us across the channel, so to speak, and some folks just take different boats.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, the environment is so French where else could you be?

LMAO, I think you could be right!!

Yes, but it's never happened on those nights, lol

Sorry to but in and change the topic,

SooilentGreen is that a baby in a microwave in your sig? lmao. i hate babies. i have countless sick jokes about them, your sig reminded me of one:

What's pink and scratches on the glass? Baby in a microwave.

      Some more?

How do you get a thousand babies into a telephone box? Food Blender!
--How do you get them back out again? Dorritos Dippaz!

What's more fun that spinning a baby round on a washing line at 100mph? Stopping it with cricket bat!

...and so on. sorry if i offeded anyone and sorry for changing the topic and sorry for anything else i may have done which i shouldn't have.

And as allways, it's been a pleasure =)
