Alright I have Decided to try to DILD... If you have average recall of dreams, will you have an assured ld every night? Oh and how long should I work on recall and is there any methods of working on recall other than a dream journal? Thanks :)

I don't think DILD is that reliable, since you have to do an RC while in a dream. I have average dream recall (4-6+ a night), but hardly ever had a DILD. Only around 14 in 4-5 months. In that whole time, I have had average dream recall. However, I don't really keep a DJ, but know a few dreamsigns. Also, I do an RC anytime I think something is wierd, whenever I wake up, get in bed, and before/after i WILD. i catch a lot of false awakenings that way. At least half of my DILDs were FAs. I have now had at least 5 lucids using the FILD(Finger-Induced Lucid dream), which DOES work. You don't necessarily have to twitch your fingers. I just tell myself when I wake up in the middle of the night to do an RC in 30 seconds. I do, and am in a dream!
So, for DILD, I have jound that repeating a chant/mantra helps. Repeat at night for a few minutes as you fall asleep "I will realize I am dreaming while dreaming." Also repeat "I will remember my dreams" if you want better recall. When I learned about lucid dreaming, that last chant made me go from a few faint dreams a week to at least 3-4(usually more) a night, starting the first night. Do RCs several times a day, and question whether you are dreaming or not. Also, if you wake up during the night, if you try the FILD and WILD methods and they fail, repeat the first mantra for a minute as you fall asleep.
I know there's alot more that you can do to help you have DILDs, but I don't work on having DILDs, so can't really think of any. Anyway, hopefully you get something out of this [long] post.

Alright I don't know if I should do FILD in the night because you lose sleep, that's why I'm trying to DILD because you don't lose sleep...hey send me a message freakydreamer about your FILD tutorial... Ok and about FILD I have to re-set my alarm, will that screw the FILD up??? Thanks freakydreamer....
The thing about DILD is that although this is were most lucids come from, attaining it is completely unpredictable. There is no guarantee that you will have it every night.
The basics of this technique are being able to ask yourself throughout the day with questions such as; "am I dreaming?", "how did I get here?", "does this make sense?" and perform reality checks, writing in your dream journal nearly every night for recall, and maybe mantras such as "I will lucid dream tonight". There are other ways of doing this though.
Just make sure you read the DILD tutorial for more information. Good luck :)
If you stick with the DILD method fully - writing a DJ, doing realty checks etc.
and if you do it consistently for long enough, you will have more LD's. There are
people who have a LD almost every night who use the DILD technique.
At first you may not see any progress and the LD's you will get will seem to be just
random. But after a while you will see an improvement.
And it's a good idea to combine it with MILD, like freakyDreamer said - chanting mantras before going to bed.
Good Luck!
DILD is not a technique, it is a category of techniques with the common feature of producing lucidity from within a dream, as opposed to WILD, which is another category of techniques aiming at transporting awareness from the waking state into the dream state.
Among other methods, DILD can be achieved by applying MILD, autosuggestion, associative techniques, awareness training or even spontaneously.
The question if DILD is reliable is much to general to give any reasonable answer. What specific technique are you referring to?
DILD is unpredictable, because dreams are unpredictable.
If you dreamed about sitting in a chair and RCing every dream, I'd imagine you'd get alot more DILD's. Too bad that never happens. :(
Hm really, I know people who use RCs and constant awareness that get LD every night, I use RCs and get LD every night, too. So DILD can get you there, the problem though, is finding a reliable dream sign/reality check/way in which it works for you, sure the tutorials are useful, but they talk in a broad sense and are helpful to get you started, but as I always say, once you got the first step, you need to learn a more personal way of doing it.
