Unhappy Been attempting to lucid dream for 6 months now, no success.

Is there something wrong with me? I mean, i write my dreams down if i remember them when i wake up, and every night these past 6 months i have tried to WILD by waking myself up and that fails too, i always miss becoming lucid and at this point there's nothing i want more then just 1 lucid dream.

Does anybody else have any similar experiences or any solutions to get me Lucid-dreaming?

      Thanks in advance!

I've had about 15 lucid dreams in my life, 3 since i started up again. I haven't had many lds lately because of school but here are some tips:

      1) stick with it: no natter how frustrated you are just stick with it.

      2) be positive: Don't say things like I cant lucid dream, or something is wrong with me. This only imprints these thoughts into reality in your mind.

      3) Regulate your sleep: Try to go to bed at the same time every night. yes even weekends if you can.

      4) details: Write as much detail as you have time or about your dreams, things like estimated length of the dream and things you were least and most aware of are good to know.

      5) Dreamsigns: look through your journal and find dreamsigns. Use these to initiate reality checks in wailing and dreamig states.

      6) RC: When ever you feel something is off or you feel like your in a dream reality check. This helps you be aware in dreams.

No worries, its taken me more than a year to have a real lucid. Sometimes I need to think again, redefine a lucid dream - if I can restate what it means - total and absolute freedom and adventure - then I can get excited about it.

Please keep trying, Dor. Many people give up before the six months mark. When you start having lucids you will appreciate them more than someone who has them quickly. You will learn a lot from your persistence and dedication and be able to apply these skills to other areas of your life.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

I've also been trying for a while now to have a lucid dream which last for more than 3 seconds. I guess the cool thing with it taking so long is it affords one the chance to be involved in the process of attaining lucidity, like its a project to work on. There are differences to every one of us, and the more time you spend pursuing this goal, the more you get to know how you tick.

Like I just realized that the only times I've stumbled upon lucidity is when I'm in a quiet environment in a dream. It so happens that the only times I do reality checks is when I'm in a quiet environment. I seldom look at my hands while having a conversation or walking in a shop. So now I'm going to try to do some rc's while engaging other people. Will this help? I'm not sure. But every time trying something new, is an opportunity to iron out some wrinkles.

It takes gymnasts a while to learn how to do all those cool looking moves...don't sweat it if its taking you a while to lucid dream.

keep trying, and definitely try a different method. There are so many variations that you should really try them all out to find the best one for you. I tried WILD for a couple of monthsbefore I gave up on lucid dreaming. I came back like a year later and WBTB + MILD worked very well for me. Experiment and you might get lucky too.

Try two years without a lucid dream >.< Don't be discouraged by the few prodigies who post stories of dreaming lucidly their first night; the majority of us have to work as hard as you have. Keep it up, and the dreams will come (trust me, they are worth it when they do )

When you do succeed, you'll most likely have developed a much more thorough, consistent method than the lucky guys, too.

During this time, were you very dedicated to particular LD induction practices / exercises?

Well, I had no idea that it was called LD, or that there were induction methods, but I would try everything I could to become lucid, it failed for a long while though <.<

If you tried for 8 years, you could probably get a lucid eventually by just figuring out how to MILD or WILD on your own. It would be like reinventing the wheel, but still possible.

      Thanks everybody for your support!
And for the guy who asked what methods i have tried, i have used WILD, WILD&WBTB, MILD, and have been hoping for a DILD. Anyone know of any other methods that i could try?

Dor; I would like to recommend a great book called Lucid Dreaming (gateway to the Inner self) by Robert Waggoner. He takes Lucid Dreaming to a whole new level which is fascinating. Also, try watching a cartoon movie before bed time, it sort of stimulates the mind. I recently tried some thing novel. Can't say too much as I just started a few days ago. I took a old pair gloves and filled them with plaster of paris or other fillers. In fact you don't even have to fill with any thing just paint them a bright color and look a them during the day and say to your self "the next time I see my hands in a dream I will know I am dreaming and become lucid" I keep them in a plastic box, and carry them around the house and look at
for awhile before going to sleep. Hopes this helps! sea bee ( a sailor forever)

CAN-WILD, FILD, DEILD. I would recommend working with one technique for a few weeks at least before switching. WILD may be tough for a beginner, but MILD is relatively simple. The three techs I listed are all somewhat similar, so you can try those out and maybe get lucky.
