I wake up after each REM
HI!
One night I said, "I'm going to wake up at 3.00 AM".
Of course that night, I woke up at exactly 3.00 AM! man, I was so happy.
So I tried that thing the next night, but with a different hour.
It didn't worked as I expected, because I woke up 3 times in the night at different hours.
And for some reason...It doesn't matter if I said it or not, if I want it or not...I kept waking up 3-4 times every night. But what's interesting is that it seems that I always wake up after each of my REM cycles.
so, you tell me, how can I use this to my advantage? thanks!!

Yes that happens, but we are not able to remember it in the morning if we go right back to sleep. If you wake up very often, like me, i would recommend either DEILD or maybe FILD if dont mind false awakenings.

I find I wake up after I tell myself I wake up :cheeky:. Then I try to wild or fild, or I just go back to sleep and have a cool vivid (and sometimes lucid :) ) dream. If you wake up in the middle of the night, try wild (good if u can do it) fild (good if FAs are ok) or DELID (good if you know when you're exiting the dream). Or you could MILD before going back to sleep :).

Well, generally speaking everyone wakes up after each REM phase, because you usually do a sleep position shift before and after each REM phase, and wake up for a very short time before going back to sleep. To use this to your advantage, I imagine you'd find great benefit out of using the DEILD method to chain lucids together, and to get lucid easily when coming out of other dreams.

I would recommend DEILD. It's easy for beginners and pretty non-disruptive since it should only take a few min at max. Check out the tutorial.
