Well I was lying in my bed a few minutes ago, and I was trying to go to sleep (I go to bed at odd times), a little while ago I had the feeling of sinking in my bed.
I'm kind of scared to do it, because I've never really taken advantage of sleep paralysis or anything before, and my lucidity was usually just by luck. If I take control of the feeling, will I be able to enter a dream right there and gain lucidity? I just really need some advice and a bit of sleep.
I'm not experienced, but i've read alot. First time i was about to try an OBE (which failed, of course) i chicked out. That was the same hour that i saw that semi-creepy docummentary of these hallucinations. And the clock were about 4pm and i was alone in a dark appartment. Lul..
However, keep in mind that this will all be part of your mind. Nothing can harm you for real. "Keep in mind" as in "Keep in mind" - really. If you would see something creepy trying to strangle you, 'Keep in Mind' - it's part of your mind, nothing physically. You could also try to imagine dream-arms strangeling him back
Yeah just keep in mind that nothing will be real and you'll be ok. :) I've never gotten past the "sinking into the bed" feeling. I always have lucid dreams on my normal sleep cycle.
There's no reason to get scarred. It's all in your head.
People have been lucid dreaming forever, and although they have had quite weird sensations- no one has ever died, or got any brain damage- or anything like that. It's a just a process your body and mind goes through almost, or every time you go to sleep. The only real difference when you try these kind of things, is that you're you're aware.
And no. You might need some practice before you can just lay in your bed, and *poof* *lucid dream*. Having the sensation of sinking in your bed is quite common, and fairly easy to reach. There's quite a few more processes you usually go through before you can have sleep paralysis, or experience an OBE by free will.
But.... I guess I would just finish answering by simply saying that all worrying is going to do is give you insomnia, and fail at a lucid dreaming attempt.
Just pretend your entering a dream of some sort while you go through those scary sensations- and don't tell yourself it's a scary reality that could harm yourself.
Just relax. I think.

Also tell yourself all you have to do is endure some colors sound or feelings that may be unfamiliar to get tons of awesome LDs. awesomeness >something a little unfamiliar.

Don't worry about it if you're scared at first. I doubt many people were as freaked out as I was when I first tried to have a lucid dream. :P
What I found helps is to practice whatever is making you nervous--during the day. Don't view it as a success/fail thing, just familiarize yourself with attempting to enter a lucid dream. In broad daylight (and when your mind is less tired and not so apt to think irrationally) it's much less scary, and before long it won't bother you to do it at night, either :)

It's not that. I can't get to sleep because of the feeling. Everytime I try to go to sleep, I get the feeling and I have to ditch, and this happens multiple times.
I just want to get some normal rest...

Most likely the answer is 'yes', and you would be able to enter a dream directly. However, if you're doing this right when you go to bed for the first time, you may not find worthwhile dreams on the other side. They tend to be very unclear and short. It's much better to focus your efforts on doing it after 5 or 6 hours of sleep (see the WBTB Tutorial if you haven't already.)Quote:
