AP, silver cord, right or wrong?

Just as we have no true power to "sell" our own souls, i believe we have no true power to sever our own "silver cord." If Astral projecting is such an evil act, there would have been messages sent by God to tell us to stop. He wouldn't let anyone commit a sin without giving them warning to stop first. So therefore the cord is a link back to our bodies. Ap can only be a gift from God. Lest we have the power to do it, and its not like we're trying to commit grave acts of sin by LD, so there shouldn't be a porblem right?

      Does anyone disagree?

It's all a matter of perception. I don't believe its a sin nor that it's a good act; I believe that it is a subjective experience, and we are here to grow and learn, in every possible way. There is "evil" in the world to teach us to seek stability and true happiness, and to appreciate it. If there was no opposition, we would go nowhere and would just remain in our steady state of expression.

There's much more to life and the world than the physical universe can offer. It gives us incentives to what lies beyond. Because of our detachment, we feel often full of dread and fear. What if we're wrong? Hence, for stability, we conceive of models to explain things. None of these models are correct; they are symbollic projections, when in fact the absolute truth has no form that is conceivable in this world, for it is beyond space and time.

Models can offer perspectives, just as jigsaw pieces can be put together to make a picture; or they can freeze you in one place, holding on for dear life with what you've had and preventing you from putting the rest of the puzzle together. There are two very powerful forms of "evil" operating in the human mind: one of them is based on hatred, which causes destructive behavior, and the other is based on fear, which causes one to forget their true purpose for coming here in the first place and go through their lives unexpressed.

So that said, when you talk about astral projection, that is an experience of reconnecting with your true self beyond space and time. It is paradoxical to state that you started at your birth; careful, because when I say "you" I mean you the perceptual lens, not you the physical confined form you are now. To understand that you always have existed, in a state beyond existence, where there is no time, where you just ARE, makes a lot more sense.

We come here and are instantly tossed into the "cosmic battle" which makes the experience of existing in the physical universe turbulent. In an attempt to understand what has been going on, we conceive the best of all attempts to explain it and find a way to overcome it.

There are many incentives presented to us in this process of life we all go through. You can view them as temptations from demons (i.e. astral projection allows demons to come and steal your soul), or as incentives from a higher-self to fully discover the properties of what it truly is.

Metaphorically, this existence is like a dream, and our True Self is elsewhere, projected into it from birth to death. To become lucid in this life is to see through and with that sight, slowly tear apart the fabric of relaity which infuses you with fear, hatred and confusion. But here's the draw-back....you might picture becoming lucid in this life like being lucid in a dream and think, "but that wouldn't be good, because then you'd be getting whatever you want, hurting people, etc". Yet I am talking about your *higher self* becoming lucid....just liek God suddenly realizing...."oh, here I am, in my own creation, seeing it through unique eyes.....what will I do now".

If you shift your perception, it can change your life, as a good friend of mine one proposed. How you view the world and what you experience contributes to the inner joy you will take with you to the next set of experiences that away you. And, on top of that, feeling good and happy inside is the most optimal state to allow you to influence this world in a positive way. Feeling scared and limited, like you have to "do this" or "do that, "or else", causes you to often feel out of control, and innerly depressed, whether consciously or subconsciously.

Just some thoughts to add....hope they inspire,

      Graeme

Its all based on opinon i suppose.
The meaning of life, is to die. How else will you know what you've been living for?

Please don't be so closed-minded... The possibility exists, and you've got to investigate it before you make snap statements like that.

Now, yeah, I'll admit I'm biased; I believe in God. But then, you're biased too if you don't; everyone's biased, even the guy who says there's no such thing as truth. The best thing we can do is try to understand the whys of what the other person believes, and then figure out for ourselves what the truth is.

Uhm. Sorry. This wasn't supposed to be a lecture.

So... you're talking sin, so I'll give my opinion on the subject.

Selling your soul? I agree, that's stupid... you can't sell something you don't truly "own". I don't know if "ownership" is the right word for it... maybe it's closer to the way the Native Americans looked at land as something that nobody could truly own, because it just wasn't ownable. If that makes any sense. God intends us to be independent beings--no one owns us. Well, I suppose you could say God owns us; but you can choose to follow him or not... God does let you do with your life what you like, mind; so I suppose you could sell your life (i.e, the time you have to live) to somebody. But souls are always redeemable, no matter what you clichedly signed in blood.

As for lucid dreaming: Like a lot of stuff, I think it woul be a tool which can be used for good or evil, or (I suppose) a hobby which can be taken to extremes. But there's nothing in the Bible that says that controlling your dreams is evil, so I'm not going to add anything to what it says. And, besides, I and many others had LD's from the time we were kids, whether we wanted to or not. Can't blame us for that.

There are accounts of at least a couple dozen prophetic dreams that various Bible characters had; I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few (or all) of those were LD's. Check it out sometime... there are a lot of "searchable Bible" sites out there.

A lot of fundamentalists would say it's evil; and of course there's the idea, scary to many Christians, that when you play with the supernatural you may end up encountering the supernatural (i.e., angels or demons), which could be dangerous. In my opinion, though, you "encounter the supernatural" every day of your life; you just can't properly see it. If you were "vulnerable to demons" or some such while you were lucid-dreaming, you should be much more vulnerable during a regular dream when you aren't thinking straight.

I think this is really a result of fearing what you don't understand. If there's something to any of this supernatural stuff, then it's part of the way the world works, the "laws of science" if you will, just like anything else.

Ah, well, that's enough of that.
