I have some questions about Shared dream/AP/OBE ect.

After having done quite a bit of research and trying to understand AP, as I think it sounds very very interesting!!! I have a few questions please? :)

Okay, so I've always been told not to try OBE. I know of family members who tried it (they probably hadn't actually learned enough or reasearched enough beforehand) but eitherway, they got into a bit of.. trouble? And they couldn't get back in, or had difficulty, then his sister sort of.. had a phychic experience of what they where going through and I dont know, helped them i guess?

I want to say, I am not a religous person, I am Athiest, though I am very open to learning about different beliefs. I enjoy researching mythology, legends, I found the Old testiment of the bible really interesting.. ect.. But I am an atheist. I am just very open minded :)

So my question is.. How does OBE differ from AP? Is it that in an OBE you are awake and you are basically just out of your body? Do you go anywhere or stay near?
With AP are you asleep, yet you go out of your body while alseep and visit other peoples dreams or you visit the (plane?) and meet others there.

I always thought shared dreaming was just a phychic thing.. like your mind connects you and another to eac otheres dreams. Is it not possible that when AP you are not actually leaving your body, but your mind is simpy connecting with the plane and its a more phychic thing rather than a travel thing?

Is there a difference between shared dreaming and AP? Or is it both the same thing? Is it dangerous at all? I have always been warey of this type of thing. Particuarly OBE as I know people who've had bad experiences with it and it worries me. On the other hand AP hasn't seemed like a worrying thing.. is AP just the same as OBE except with OBE its a waking thing and AP is a seeping thing?
Also, what/where exactly is the Astral Plane?

Sorry, I just got a little confused about some things and would really love it if some people could help me and explain some of this to me? Thankyou!

yes, there is a differencee between shared dreaming and astral projection.. cause they are not in the same plane.. theres dream plane and astral plane i think, so in shared dreaming.. you would share the "dream" with someone.. in an astral trip.. well your kinda like a ghost in the physical plane.. or something, the astral planee is like another dimension placed in the same place as the physical one, and about worries.. well.. lets say that when you go flying around , you can see alot of stuff.. like other people APing, or just regular ghost.. but there is dangrous thing out there.. like demons.. now, i've never done AP, but i have a firend that is very experienced in the subject. i think the person in the forum that can clarify that to you is WakingNomad

I disagree. I think there is no difference between shared dreaming, astral projection, and waking reality. Trying to differentiate between them will only lead to confusion. Focus instead on what they all have in common. Check out the books of Carlos Casteneda to gain a better understanding.

Lucid Dream: Regular dream where you become aware that you are dreaming and take advantage of the positive aspects of the dream (being able to control the dream world, no repercussions for you actions, etc) for your own entertainment or to learn something about yourself. I think most people agree that lucid dreams takes place within your own mind.

Shared Dream: A dream where real people (not dream characters) are able to interact with each other in some way. Whether this is actually meeting someone in person in the dream, or sending a message to them in the dream. These actually being possible is a very shaky idea at best. If they were possible, science would have to redefine what a dream actually is. According to our current definition of a dream, these are 100 percent impossible, since we believe dreams take place only in the confines of your own mind. Shared dreamers either believe that they are meeting on a universal "plane" of some kind where all dreamers actually are, or they believe that they can enter another person's mind and share the dream with them. If the believe the former, they will arrange some sort of meeting place on the dreaming plane, and then meet there and dream together. Shared dreams are actually very similar to astral projections, since they both take place on a plane that is seperate from our world.

Out of Body Experience: A dream or a form of meditation where your "soul" or "spirit" leaves your body and is able to travel in the physical world. There is no special planes involved here, your spirit is actually traveling in the physical world. You can see people, places, things that are all real, and are able to travel possibly all around the world and beyond. According to current science this is not possible, because it would imply that the human body's perceptions are controlled by a soul, which is thought to be false. We current believe the human bodies perceptions are controlled only by the brain, which could never be removed from the human body without major surgery and technology we do not currently have.

Astral Projection: Very similar to an OBE, but instead of traveling in the physical world, your spirit travels to the "astral plane" where you are free to wander. It is very debatable whether the people/places/things you encounter on the astral plane are actually real or not. Some believe the astral plane is actually a reality seperate from the one we live in, and that only spirits have access to the astral plane. Others (like myself) believe the astral plane is within your own mind, and is very similar to a lucid dream.

To my way of thinking, an OBE is a general term that encompasses many things. In the model of reality that I most closely subscribe to, the "dream planes" are in the lower sub-planes of the astral, bordering the physical. You will find claims of those who "astral project" in meditation but awake physically, albeit in some sort of trance state. They can go well-reported places like the museums and temples that exist there, rarely reached by dreamers. Whether the trance/AP is really a WILD can be debated, and perhaps there is some overlap here.
OBEs can also encompass experiences on planes "higher" than the astral, such as the Mental, Causal, or Soul. This takes us to realms where the laws of time and space are different or nonexistent. The "travel" part becomes meaningless. As Ram Das says, Be Here Now.

I disagree. the dream body is lighter than the astral body. I've shed my astral body in lucids a few times and felt my dream body as being much lighter, more easier to fly with etc. Astral planbe and dream planes are separate. our reality is a dense 3rd density realitymaking objects physical. Astral plane is lighter. but even lighter is the dream plane.

great post thanks. i feel alot of people trap themselves into new boxes by the need to define evrything. its just all a dream. you can become lucid at anytime in any place, dream or not. costantly telling yourself that dreams are completely seperate and different to reality just shuts you off to the endless possibilities of waking lucidity. its all just in the mind
