Dream recall, MJ and our brains

      Hi guys,
just wanted to share some thoughts with you on Dream recall(DR) and recall of conversations/thoughts after smoking low dosage of MJ (MJR).

So for me DR and MJR are similar in the effect on our brain development. What i mean is the following. Usually after smoking MJ most people cant actually remember what they were speaking or thinking while having fun with their friends. But with low dosages one can actually learn to remember. Same situation is with dreams. The beginning is difficult and almost no recall of the dreams but when you start to give some time in the morning to think about your dreams you start to remember more and more.

But what is actually interesting for me is that as i suppose when dreaming or smoking we use parts of the brains we usually do not use(or at least not consciously). So when we try to remember we in fact try to use the same parts of the brain which we used when we were dreaming/smoking. So in that way we increase the conscious usage of our brains.

What do you think, am i on a relatively correct path?

      Cheers

I suppose that would make sense, especially for the dream recall, but not so much for MJ in my opinion. I think they would equate more if you were talking about high doses of MJ, but low doses not so much, I believe that can be attributed to the fact that memories are easier to recall if you are in the same mood you were in when you stored them, and this includes if you were in some sort of high. This is why people who drink daily or smoke daily will find that they do better in their work/school if they continue to go high, even though it may reduce attentiveness or overall use of straightforward logic.

And the reason I say that is because if you take small doses of MJ, you're probably going to use more often, what would have been one-three high doses in a week is instead a low dose every day, making the mood similar and causing the previously stated effect.

Not only that, but I personally don't see any effect on memory with low doses of MJ, while attentiveness may lower, if I actually paid attention to it, I will remember it. High doses cause more of a surreal feeling of memory that is similar to dreams in my experience.

Also, I don't think it's a difference in strength of MJ (it's possible though), just because, according to high times at least, I live in one of the top three cities of the strongest MJ in the US, and it's pretty apparent, so unless your growing god-strains, I find it unlikely that my experience is attributed to having weaker MJ, and if anything, more likely just to be my personal reaction. Figured I'd throw that out there.

I think it's a good theory, but I think the specification of dosage might be counter effective in describing it. That's really the only problem I have with it, otherwise, I find that wholly possible, and do indeed think you are on a relatively correct path.

But, having known that smoking MJ will help you remember what you thought last time you smoked MJ, now I feel I should apply this to dreams as well. It would probably work well to try to remember a dream in a dream, and could potentially create a new method for DR. And now I have more shit to do in my LDs. Thank you

Did i get it right? To remember a previous dream while dreaming? If yes that happens to me. To dream and then i remember that i was here and there around the place im dreaming about currently. I even remember the people i saw in the previous dream.

About the MJ now. I know the strength differs but once you are really wasted next time you can smoke less just to get in the mood as Hendrix says "not necessarily stoned but beautiful" You said "smoking MJ will help you remember what you thought last time you smoked MJ" and i know its happening but is not conscious effort. So i meant that with smoking low-dosage you can start training your brain remembers where its been then i suppose you can increase dosages Anyways i think that DR helps MJR and vice-versa. My idea is that "small dosage=small shift" which could be easier traceable than a big shift for example.

Yeah I've actually remembered dreams within dreams a couple times it's pretty amazing that we're capable of that.

Same here. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with a theory that was controversial or not largely accepted? I don't know, what's your reasoning for this?

I think anyone that smokes could see the resemblence in remembrance.

But it is controversial, not "paranormal". Being controversial still fits on general lucid discussion I would say.

I too have experienced dream recall within a dream, not infrequently actually. Mostly in a false awakening type situation, as I usually try to recall what just happened as soon as I awaken. The other frequent scenario is when in a dream I realize I dreamed this before and choose to maybe change or explore some aspect of it.
As for the whole MJ and memory issue I think there is a lot of scare-tactic bunk about it. The real key to remembering something is paying attention in the first place. Being over 50 now, I'm amazed at how good my memory is, long and short term. After decades of heavy MJ use too, I must confess. It just takes a tiny bit of discipline. Wish I was good at it back in my school days! I recommend to anyone to read a book on memory, such as The Memory Book.
Yeah, this thread probably doesn't really need to be in BD, but here it is. Chill

The whole False Awakening thing probably happens to most of us more often than we ever realize. The only time I really catch that I'm not awake (laying in bed, in my bedroom), is when something in, or with, the room is amiss.

oops I realized I read this wrong. Ya, but I had deja vu in a dream once became lucid and I remembered the whole dream, could have swore I wrote in my dream journal. But when I woke up I couldn't remember having that dream before and it wasn't in my dream journal.
Having a continuing dream storyline everynight would be pretty epic though.
