Memory Navigation.

I was thinking about this issue.. And i've saw to share it with you all, to know your opinions.

Im now, 26 years old.

About 3 years ago, i started to have the feeling that im a very old man with in the 70s or 80s, and all my current life, is just memory.

Few months ago, i started to use sound recording with auto-suggestions to make a self-hypnosis to help me while sleeping to navigate my memory.

While navigating some memories, sometimes i was knowing that the world around me was not real.. And i was having nearly the same feeling that im having now .. That im an old man and this world is just memories.

Im putting this hypothesis under tests now, in order to know whether it is true or not.
This test is: will i be able to predict major future events with very high percentage?

Do you think this whole idea is possible?
Do you think i may be stucking in one of my memories now?

Do you know any other way to help knowing the truth about this?

Hi Hadeka. Many brave scholars have attempted hypnotherapy to try to learn more about past lives, the truth of reality, and consciousness – but certainly not limited to just this. Some believe that hypnosis is only making yourself super-susceptible to suggestions. I believe it is possible that hypnosis might provide you some of the answers you are looking for, but not all of them. Whether you are able to predict into the future or unravel the mysteries of your past requires more than just determination. Your mind does not work straight-forwardly like that; the mind uses symbols, and what you uncover from hypnosis might only be a symbolic representation of the answer you seek. That said, using hypnosis for any means of consciousness-exploring is hard, but it would seem other methods would be as well. I would suggest finding some literature about hypnotherapy and consciousness. There are a ton of studies.

The brain is completely capable of making up false memories. If you try at it enough eventually you'll remember whatever you want to. These are repressed memories and it has been proven that many so called "repressed' memories are actually just made up by the mind completely. What really gets you is that you have a healthy amount of faith that what you remember is true, or in your case you believe that you are just reliving memories as an old man. While that is interesting take it from another persons point of view. Maybe you think I'm just apart of this memory, then does that mean I too am living a series of memories? Are we all in the future and have been duped into reliving our lives for whatever reason. It's cool but seems entirely unlikely. While I don't believe that you are reliving memories, maybe you are. It's impossible to be 100% sure of anything really. If you apply a certain logic to it.

Yes, the brain is completely capable of making up false memories, but it is also completely capable of recovering memories which have been "lost" for years. I know...I've done it. And I had all of these memories (some even from when I was an infant) confirmed by my mother so I know they are not made up.

I did see the note and agree with you. I believe repressed memories and false memories can exist. I don't believe the author is correct when he says that repressed memories don't exist, but I do think there is merit in the article. It's important to note how hypnotherapists and your own expectations can produce "memories." What more are memories than recorded/re-playable thoughts? With an infinite mind, true memories might seem hard to come by. Hypnosis relying on one's autosuggestibility while already a canvas or whirling colors might not produce true results; that was the point of posting the article.

Well I'm not sure how accurate the source is but I did learn somewhere that repressed memories for the most part are made up. However, it has been proven in a few cases that repressed memories are legitimately true. I'm not saying that anyone's repressed memories are false I'm only warning the OP that should he navigate his own memory he may gain some repressed memories that agree with his assumption. I don't think this is very healthy, however I suppose there are some ways of actually discovering real repressed memories.
