Remember an old forum about shared dreaming...?

      Hi everyone, new member here.

Years ago I was a member of a forum which was focussed on lucid dreaming and shared dreams.

The site makers build a 3D model of a central hub area which dreamers were supposed to try and visualise so that they would eventually have a dream about it. The idea was that eventually, 2 people would dream of being in this space and would end up having a shared dream.

I remember the forums were split into small groups. Within your dream group you were supposed to share your dreams, get to know one another and become close enough to share dreams.

It was a good idea, but eventually I got too busy to keep at it. I stopped lucid dreaming a few years ago and am thinking about starting again.

So, does anyone know if this site still exists? I have no idea what it was called.
Also, any similar experiments going on on this site?

Yeah that was it! The site was no way as informative as this place, but the 'dream groups' idea was interesting.

Actually I think Sea Life and that Lucid Crossroads site were once the same thing. The Sea Life forum was for discussions, and the crossroads graphics were for visualisation. Seems like the 'dream teams' idea broke up a while ago (small groups of people sharing dream journals and trying to get into each others dreams). I think they are re-starting the dream teams idea now, but there are less people on the forum than back then.

I remember that site. Did anything ever come out of their shared dreaming attempts?

Sealife wasn't about shared dreaming, just people forming small teams motivating each other to have lucid dreams. Atleast that was the goal of the team I was in, might have been other teams that focused on shared dreaming though.

I found the teams to be very effective back then. The atmosphere and overall friendliness that came from being just a small group of people was very motivating. You were never afraid to ask even the stupidest questions.

This could actually be achieved here on DV right now with the new user forum feature where you can create your own private forum and invite those you want.

Yeah thats what I remember most, the friendship formed in the small groups.
However, I am sure that the area on the Crossroads site was also involved. I know shared dreams wasnt always the goal of the groups, but wasnt the site also linked somehow with the crossroads hub and users were encouraged to try and get there?

Im gonna sign up there and find out what happened, I have the memory of a goldfish. I do have one memory of posting on Sea Life about a lucid I had where I tried to get to the hub and could see the hot air baloon markers that led the way, but I never got there.

Not sure really. But wow I just tried to search to see if there were any archives of my old posts there and discovered I used to be a member on Dreamviews in 2004, and had 104 posts here... and I dont remember any of it!
Show how good my memory is...
So I was probably a member on sealife back in 2004ish too, and probably had the same username 'killfrenzy'. I do remember I was in the team called 'Team 2' and there was a guy called Sparrowhawk on there too.

This is a site and idea that has close ties to DV and has been brought up several times over the years. I believe it was actually created and published by a past DV member, the crossroads was started as a visual guide to help dreamers. But one is supposed to visit the site and use that as inspiration to induce the lucid dream.

OMG I love this thread "Remember an old forum about shared dreaming ...?"

      U Guys R interesting!

      I Love "liquorice" me Lord.

My AVATAR is a dream portal and remote viewing camera. U can use it as a remote viewing camera first and when U get it to work then U can step into it and let it teleport U To my sacred beach near where this beautiful Orange and blue Mandala is anchored.

If U get something while, or after, looking at it, I will go to my sacred beach, here in Adelaide, South Australia and take a picture of what I think you picked up.

And later, when you're game, U can slip through my Mandala Portal and visit our sacred beach.

      Yes

Put "flickr" into the Google search bar. Then put "ultravioletfrog" or "debraJane" into the Flickr search bar.

I think the copy of "Henry Reeds, 15th of April 2008" Daily Mandala, is on the second page.

Oh, and of course, you can find the original Mandala by visiting "The Daily Mandala" and putting "April 15, 2008" in Henry Reeds, "Daily Mandala" website.

I think it would be a cool idea to have a private forum for a small group of people to share dreams.

I think that's a phenomenal idea. But then how would you filter it? I'm sure a LOT of people would want to be a part of it.

Hi LostOnTrains, Mr Irony, atkins513, Robot_Butler, Kraid, Captain Frapo and saltyseedog

I am not into in-depth theories on how dreaming (lucid/mutual etcetera) works. I am like an excited infant at the beach. I just want to enjoy the wonder, build castles in the sand and play, play, play.

To that end I opened a flickr account.

To get to it put *flickr* into the google search-bar. At the top of the list is a flickr search-bar. Put *ultravioletfrog* in it and it will take you to my page. Then click *photostream* ultravioletfrog’s photostream, and you are there.

The last photo I (ultravioletfrog) uploaded was titled “1st Mdrv”. Mdrv means Mutual Dreamer’s remote viewing.

If you like I, guess this account is my small shared-dreaming site.

      Ok

If you want to come to my sacred beach then drop-off (to sleep) looking at my beautiful-form Mandala and if that doesn’t seeeeem to work then listen to this, and let Ganesh remove ALLLL obstacles for you.

When It's Difficult To Become Lucid

Some people are natural born lucid dreamers. Not me. I empathize with folks who have problems achieving lucidity, because I do, too. Here's what I do when the going gets tough.

To get lucid is friggin' hard, even impossible, unless I've done some major prep work. This can take days, perhaps weeks. Before I attempt all those last-minute triggers (like WILD and DILD), I must create a foundation from which lucidity can arise.

I start from ground zero. My default mode is no recall at all. Then, I have to remember a dream, any dream. As recall of detail increases, I encourage ever more complex, ordered and interesting dreams (nothing kills my motivation more than boring or weird-disturbing dreams). When my physical and mental energy level has emerged out of the dungeon and climbed up to a normative plateau, generally one or both of two things happen. 1) I start having vivid, colorful dreams, instead of my usual wimpy washed-out hues or boring black and white. 2) My dreaming self has shifted from inanimate observer to speed racer. In particular, my flag is non-lucid flying dreams.

Only then do I utilize the regular lucidity-inducing tricks. If I try beforehand, it's usually wasted effort. Or I'll force myself, and have very heavy dreams (like not being able to lift myself off the ground) and/or awake exhausted.

It's a long-term approach to lucidity, that requires a long-term journal. The journal helps in several ways. First, writing my dreams (and having writing material ready to go when I wake) is a signal to my subconscious that I'm really serious about achieving lucidity.

It's also an indicator to my dreaming self that I appreciate all her in-dream efforts to convert from slug to superhero. I help her out by providing useful day residue for her to piece together a moving/flying dream. Like watching flying films or riding in some conveyance, while suggesting to myself that I have a flying dream that looks or feels like this. Basically, I'm practicing mental skills and beefing up the data files in my memory banks.

However, I also have to remember that "big dreams" require the cooperation of a side of me who is less rational/mental than feeling/emotional. And here is where motivation plays a crucial role. First, it helps to think of my dreaming self as a curious kid who likes to play. So I encourage her, by writing all the non-lucid dreams in my journal. This lets her know I appreciate her efforts even if she doesn't get the gold medal. I've discovered she can produce some mighty interesting non-lucid dreams along the path to lucidity. Then, the challenge is to come up with something intriguing to do once I/we become lucid. Brainstorming is a creative mental exercise in itself.

I'd also like to mention a mental practice that helps practice the "shift" from non-lucidity to lucidity and back again. I find a book (or movie) and get absorbed in the story. Then I pull out of the story-spell, look around and realize where I'm located in physical life. Then I let myself be pulled into the story once again. This can be repeated several times. Also, the right story selection can help induce lucid dreams. Like reading the exploits of an out-of-body explorer.

In the long run, though, the best lucidity inducer is one of your past lucid dreams. When you review it (because you have it written down), you can conjure up the special feeling tone of lucid dreaming. Then you can return to lucidity, because you've been there before.

I also keep a calendar of daily appointments/events because that can help me remember what was going on the day (or previous days) before a lucid dream, spontaneous or intended. I can also discover what was going on the days I tried to become lucid and didn't make it. If I track down what has induced or hindered in the past, I can use that knowledge to choose the right time and provide the right backup for my next attempt.

There's more I can say, but enough for now. Do you have any suggestions or experiences to share?

      Hi friends

I went back to the IASD main forum to continue copying more or the above thread, but couldn't find it. Found this but:

      Developing a Lucid mind

      Dear Dreamers,

Why do some dreamers immediately take to lucid dreaming, while others struggle to achieve lucidity even once?

I thought about this question recently when interviewing a young Norwegian woman, Line Salvesen, for The Lucid Dream Exchange. She claims to have about fifteen hundred lucid dreams a year. For most of us who average three or four lucid dreams a month, fifteen hundred per year sounds incredible!

She’s not the only person, though. Over the years, I have met a number of ultra-frequent lucid dreamers, on-line and in person. Curious about their ability, I began to search for some common characteristics – something to explain this high frequency. I noticed how they often assumed everyone dreamt lucidly, and felt shocked to learn this was not the case. In some cases, their frequent lucid dreaming could be traced back to persistent childhood nightmares where they learned how to achieve lucidity to deal with nightmare scenarios. In other cases, their frequent lucid dreaming seemed connected to certain waking mental habits.

Recalling my carefree college days studying behavioral psychology and reading Carlos Castaneda, I went from 3 to 8 lucid dreams a month to a high of 30 lucid dreams per month at my peak – all of which I nicely charted as a budding behaviorist. Some of this increase I could attribute to the use of the MILD technique. But decades later, when I began meeting ultra-frequent lucid dreamers, I began to feel a bit deflated, quantitatively speaking. How did they achieve lucidity so frequently?

Then a mini-epiphany came to me.

One day, reading an email from an ultra-frequent lucid dreamer, and feeling a tinge of envy mixed with curiosity I responded, “How? How do you become lucidly aware in almost every dream?” The lucid dreamer wrote that she had a consistent habit of asking herself repeatedly, “What was I just doing?” This mental habit carried over to her dreaming awareness, such that in the dream she would pose this exact question to herself, “What was I just doing?” Searching her mind, she realized she had been preparing for sleep, so therefore, she must be dreaming!

At that moment, a little light went on in my brain. Ultra-frequent lucid dreamers develop a lucid mindset.

A lucid mindset means a persistent mental habit of re-examining one’s perceived environment or state of awareness. Whether it involved memory or vigilance (e.g., Am I safe here from nightmares?), these ultra frequent lucid dreamers repeatedly checked or analyzed their current situation.

For some, numerous nightmares apparently reinforced the need to differentiate waking from dreaming, and allowed them to become highly attuned to dream state cues that would prompt lucid awareness. This habitual need to examine their state (waking or dreaming) naturally led to lucid dreaming, as a positive way to handle nightmares. Done with consistency over time, a lucid mindset developed, which became an unconscious and routine part of their dreaming life.

As for the lucid dreamer who consistently questioned herself to remember her last action, we find another type of lucid mindset. Here, she performs not so much a ‘reality check’ as a memory check that leads to a reality check! Her questioning leads her to re-examine more thoroughly her environment or current state, and she becomes lucid. Whatever the underlying motivation, certain habitual mental patterns lead these ultra-frequent lucid dreamers to examine their perceived environment or current state more closely.

So how can you use this knowledge to become a more frequent lucid dreamer? How can you work towards developing a lucid mindset? Or do you have a touch of a lucid mindset already, which you just haven’t noticed?

Feel free to explore these 'critical questions' ....

      Lucid wishes,

      Robert

      I wanna have a whinge

So I apologise ahead of time and hope I don't get banned. I already got banned. This is what happened.

I attended the last 3 annual pdc's (Psi-Dreaming Conferences). The first one was free cos I paid the $100 IASD membership fee and for that I got 4 (quarterly) highly technical, scientific, university type (purple) magazines, (Yuck) and 4 (quarterly) much more friendly magazines called Dream Time (i think) and a free pass to the $45 on-line conference.

I participated in the scary and exciting 3 psydreaming experiments.

I was in a private chat room with the "big-wig" of the competitions. Near the end of the allotted hour the "big-wig" wrote that if anyone had any questions, go ahead, (or something like that).

I had one and was very nervous to pipe-up, so maybe a few minutes past before I mustered the courage.

Then I tentatively typed something along the lines of, since IASD runs this wonderful pdc, why not have, say, a mutual dreaming and dream-remote-viewing thread on the main IASD site?.

Another "chatterer" posted that Ed Kellog had left the chat room. I scrolled down and sure enough he had logged-out.

So, before the pdc ended I got the notion to stop gripping and "do it myself". I went to the main IASD website and under my handle "ultravioletfrog" I opened a thread called, "Not quite mutual dreaming & Not quite remote viewing".

In less than a month my lovely, lovely 60+ post thread was obliterated. I was shocked and it took a while for me to ask, "Why!". Finally I plucked up the courage to ask what had happened to my dynamic thread I discovered that I couldn't log-in. In stead I got the generic message that I was banned from this forum and to contact the Web Master.

      But

I clicked on every thing and nothing lead nowhere so I couldn't contact no Web Master. That was 11-11-2010 and every one on that website have totally forgotten that I ever existed. No one has ever contacted me.

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, think i'll go and eat worms.

      Sorry for the gripe.
