      Collective Dreaming

Hello there - I'm new to the site though not to the concept of lucid dreaming. I began working on lucid dreaming approximately in 2001, and since then I've had a few lucid dreams, though never one like the dream I had the other night. I'm trying to get some more information on collective dreaming, not as a concept like having the same dream, but specifically meeting up with people in dreams, I suppose in dream form. I will describe this dream I had for you, I appreciate anyone taking the time to read it.

sarah was there, perhaps as someone i could tell they weren't real, which was a weird experience. telling someone they're not real is not something life prepares us for. i was trying to convince her that we were in a dream, and so i got down on my hands and knees on the sidewalk, and pulled the cement apart to reveal lush green grass underneath, a giant 20-ft. seam of grass underneath the sidewalk. she seemed sort of convinced; it didn't really matter. but i remember her saying she didn't feel well and was going to take a pill, like a tylenol or something. i told her, it's useless, "all pills in dreams are the same." you can take a tylenol but it won't have any effect on you. "i've had really good dream guides," i told her. if you want to feel a certain way, just feel it, and if you want to go a certain place, you just go there.

so we decided to go to thailand. and in order to dream travel, you have to go to the hub of dream travel. this was dreamworld. it reminded me of some old western town, with all dirt streets and dilapidated buildings. but it was filled with lucid dreamers. we were all collectively dreaming lucidly at the same time. and we all wanted to go somewhere.

the map of dreamworld was pretty rudimentary but it had streets and markers where you would find phones. there was also a directory of guides (perhaps on the back of the map? i think it was just another sheet of paper). for example, if you wanted to go to thailand like we did, you would look up thailand on the guide directory. it told us to dial "5."

the phone was like one of those 80s or 90s phones, with the long cord and everything, and its base was firmly attached to this old wooden table. this is all still out on the dirt streets by the way. and the table and the phone were covered in messages and stickers from lucid dreamers who had used it for years and years, like the ultimate bathroom wall. i remember picking up the phone to dial "5" for thailand and it rang a few times but there was a message - the guide wasn't there. the guide probably hadn't been there for decades. my directory was out of date.

anyways, when i awoke from this visit to dreamworld i felt i had been to another plane of existence, that i had truly collectively dreamed. and i wonder if anybody else has done this, or if it's truly possible. can i meet you in dreamland? can i ever go back to dreamworld? i hope so. it was absolutely amazing. and i want to leave my message there, for dreamers in years to come.

Does this sound like anything anyone has ever heard of before? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Lol im sorry i can't give you more information. But im pretty interested in this and i'd like to hear some other replies.
I've noticed a lot of artists mostly saying they interact with people in dreams and there they make something and the next day they produce it in real life.

Hmmmm it could have just been a manifestation of your mind.... you got to realize even in shared dreams everything in the dream is manifestation of your mind (and the other persons mind).

Whats weird is I had a dream that dreamviews was a object with posts by people as stickers all over it.

Exactly, they'lll share more of the bigger thematic elements but the details may be perceived differently. Strange how it's practically the opposite in waking life: We see and share all the little distracting details, and can't seem to share a larger collective perception.

Onto the OP, I've experienced similar dreams (escalating recently) in which I'm looking for other dreamers and warriors, and a handful of times came to a collective destination (although mostly unintentionally) shared by what I perceived to be other dreamers.

I have to say sassypants, what a creative way to try and prove to your friend that she was dreaming.

That's interesting - I'm an artist and a poet and there have been many times that I've created something in a dream and have been so disappointed to lose it upon waking. For some reason, words and music are the least adhesive to my dream recall. I have a friend who recalls his dreams with immense detail, and he is a musician - so he was thinking about making a "dream album" that basically consisted of all the songs he had composed while dreaming. Fun, huh?

I like the idea of an object covered in posts. That's very much like what the table looked like. Notes and stickers. There should be more objects like this in everyday life. They're beautiful.

When you encountered other dreamers, were they people you knew in waking life? Had they had the same dreams?

I found a really interesting site regarding collective dreamspace (actually found it through dreamviews) called Lucid Crossroads. I'm not quite sure I understand it entirely but it seems to be a destination for lucid dreamers to meet. It would be an awesome experience for those who have more lucid control (I'm not quite there yet).

That was exactly what it was like, and I I'm pretty sure it was a table too. Maybe the two are related?

Seeing as how the dream was the reason I eventually found dreamviews - I wouldn't be surprised....

The relationships of ANY people we encounter in life seems to be very... organized in a fashion. It's like a web, and I cannot imagine it having occurred any other way.
