Dear STi
Wow. The extraordinary thing about the dream you presented was that you're weapons worked and you were largely successful. In many War Dreams, the guns jam, or the Enemy is able to fight to at least a draw. Then there is the odd situation in your dream of using a grenade launcher in close quarters. You know, of course, that one does not shoot genades 'through' walls. They would explode on impact and kill the people inside the room, leaving those outside the room, the intended targets, as victorious by default. In real life, in the situation which you describe, of being 'holed up', the Japanese strategy would be to use a grenade themselves -- a hand grenade. They would start the time fuse and let it run down to the point where they could reasonably suppose nobody could have time to catch it and throw it back out of the room, and then they would toss it into your hole with the expectation that it would then instantly explode and either kill you all or incapacitate you for capture. The tactic is tricky, since grenade fuses are not entirely predictable. One wants the grenade to run down a bit, but also feels the urgency of getting rid of the thing before it blows up in one's hand. I once had a dream of being in battle -- I was a headquarters clerk who was being overrun by Russian Commandoes and was on the receiving end of a grenade attack, and although I was lucky enough to catch a thrown grenade as it came through a window, and was able to instantly throw it back out, it exploded before it had barely gotten through the window -- it killed both myself and the Russian who threw it. As our Spirits rose above the field of Battle we were both laughing at the turn of events.
But I wonder why your dream turned out so optimistically. Perhaps your dream mind is giving you some encouragement.
