I can feel others emotions pretty strongly and have been able to as long as i can remember. This is called being empathic. Many people do this but just dont realize it. For example if you are having a discussion with someone and they begin to get offended or angry, you may begin to feel that anger too, despite the fact you have no reason to. Before you know it you are arguing with the person even though you feel you should have never been angry to begin with.
Everything is energy, you can become more aware of the energy with practice and meditation. We are all one consciousness, therefore we have a collective mind, and collective emotions, as well as individual ones. What we think or feel individually is often dictated by what is happening collectively. This is why you will often hear people say something you were just thinking. Another common one, for me anyway, is someone will tell me about something that really scares them. When they tell me, i get scared too, but when i think about it later i realize that the idea doesn't scare me and never did.
Now influencing others emotions is much more difficult. I feel i have successfully done this at times in my life but its really hard to say if it really was me. I have faith it was though. I would do this by first making it my intention to radiate my own energy, if someone is sad i will try to radiate pure blissful, happy energy. Then i will focus on their heart center, and my own heart center, imagining them becoming one.
When i say heart center i mean, our source, its in our chest and is deeper than the physical heart and heart chakra. It is where we emanate from and it is also our source for life energy. Anyway i imagine our heart centers being one, which in reality they are anyway, everything is one. I feel by doing this i am allowing source to provide them with the same blissful energy it is providing me at the time.
The thing is, when dealing with other people it is really all up to them. They may become aware of the energy but choose to ignore it because they are too troubled by something in their mind, body, emotions etc. I think you will find it much easier to feel the emotions of others, but it is totally possible to influence others emotions. If they make a conscious effort they can feel what you radiate. In my experience most people are too "asleep" but every once in a while it seems to really work.
Sorry for such a long post. Also i realize i mention a lot of things that dont get attention in pop culture(source, energy, oneness, consciousness.) I just want to say im not trying to influence anyones beliefs or anything like that. I practice yoga meditation and self inquiry. These practices have led me to experience life in this way. Everyones experience is different, so take from my post what you will.
