Unhappy Confused and a little freaked out by this...

      (Orange = my experience)

I was just wondering if someone could give me their opinion on something I experienced a few nights ago that has really been bothering me...

I recently got melatonin pills for my insomnia and they've really been helping, I think it's important to note that I was on 5 mg of melatonin as it may play a factor in what happened... again, I'm not sure, but just in case.

At the same time, I had done opiates that night and they were making really tired - I also never had the 'nodding' experience some users have had.

I went to bed at a regular hour (around 11 or 12) feeling really exhausted and looking forward to sleeping. I was just about to drift off when I realized I had to go to the bathroom.

I pulled myself up from my lying position (currently semi-face down with my face in my pillow) and instantly felt very strange. I felt very, very heavy. It was as if gravity had increased substantially in my room; I could barely open my eyes. I thought it might have been the melatonin acting up so I began to get somewhat panicky but decided to get up and go to the bathroom anyway.

The heavy feeling continued, my motions felt lethargic and slow. It was an effort to walk to my door and my eyes still would not open all the way.

My room was exactly as I had left it (this is one of the reasons why I don't believe I was dreaming), literally nothing was misplaced or changed when I looked at it a second time. The only difference, however, was the lighting. It looked like the shadows were darker in hue then before I had first gone to bed.

I slowly made my way out of my room and turned to the bathroom, again, everything was as it was prior to me going to bed. The light in the bathroom (it was on) seemed hazy. It was like when you stare at something bright with tears in your eyes.

I began to feel more and more lightheaded and faint, the heaviness was intense and it was hard to move. So I sat down on the toilet (after pulling down my pants, ha) and then lifted my head in a jaunty motion. Suddenly I was swallowed in blackness.

It was like the G force, stomach turning you get on a rollarcoaster except it was constant. I began to scream and I know I was pushing sound from my vocal chords except the sound resonated in my head instead. I could still feel the presence of my body (it wasn't like I was in a black void of nothingness) except my eyes were blinded. I kept screaming for someone to help me but sound just would not leave my throat.

Suddenly I was back in bed in the exact position I had been in before getting up to go to the bathroom. It felt to me like I had teleported from the bathroom to my bed because this experience was so real and did not resemble any of my dreams in the past. I was literally stunned and confused (normally when I wake from a nightmare I am relieved that I was just dreaming). I contemplated calling the hospital but at this point the heaviness was gone and the lighting was back to it's original hues. At this point I felt perfectly normal.

The only logical conclusion I drew was that I had to have 'nodded' (however, I have spoken to people who have 'nodded' and they say the experience is nothing like the one I had). I refuse to think of it as a dream because no dream I ever had made me feel like this.

I was considering the idea that I may have astral projected. I'm not quite sure what this means or how astral projecting works, but I can't find any other explanation yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts and if they can help me find out what the hell happened to me as it's been bothering me a lot.

I am not entirely sure if there is a difference between the two but I think that you may of had an out of body experience or astral projected.
When you mentioned the way you "got up" when reading a tutorial on Astral Projecting I read that you have to lie on your back and sit up but not your physical body. Mabye you did this unintentionally?

      I don't know.

Perhaps the heaviness was associated with still being attached to my body and it was difficult for me to walk away?
When I was in it I was totally oblivious though, I just thought I was faint or sick... its was very "blood rush to the head" kind of feeling.

Congrats you separated from your physical shell. When you leave your body u start in the ethric body and when you get atleast 10 feet away from your physical body you enter the astralBody, which allows you to transcend time and space. There are many vehicles to our consciousness you caught a small taste of it. I would study subtle bodies to have a better understanding and practice stabilization techniques as if you were lucid dreaming. Congrats again :-D namaste.

But is it possible to do this accidentally?

I have never tried to astral project before, or even considered it for that matter.
It just seems a little sudden!

Sorry for the duplicate my phone is acting up :-) Anyway it's always possible to astral project accidentally I think your chances of random astral projection increases when you have cracked the door in someway. Maybe u read about it somewhere or practice similar exploration like lucid dreaming any little thing can sink in to the subconscious and play out later down the road and when the door opens it never really truly closes again. Ironically the best time to astral project is immediately upon awakening most of us just roll over and fall back to sleep but you decided to get up in those few key moments thus your experience. There's nothing to fear and if you don't want to persue this accidental projections will be few and far between however exlporing and controlling it can reap major benefits for you and impove your physical life in what ever aspect you so choose. ;-D

I've had experiences like this when visited by another entity. They try to scare, but it's just an annoying game. If this happens again look for whose doing it and stand up to them. Also this seems to resemble the early stages of OBE.

Would you be able to see these entities?
I didn't see or hear anything although I have experienced auditory hallucinations or voices before sleeping very frequently.
I didn't feel as though I was being targeted... in fact I felt like it was a huge accident as I thought I was passing out and sick, not out of my body at all!!

Do you have any advice regarding discovering if this was a visit? I'm just really curious to find out haha.
