Do you think this is possible? Could you tell your brain, in an LD to say... grow taller, or make me feel pain less... or wierd stuff like that? Discuss. :-P

I don't think that would work.. I have been LDing for most of my life, & nothing like that has ever happened.....Quote:

If it has to do with your mind, such as feeling less pain, then it might be possible. But I don't see how you could alter any physical attributes, like height.
I don't know about dreams, but if seen a research in a mag called "scientific american mind" that showed a group of people monitered by scientists, that had to increase there muscle size. they were given a set of images of well built people and had to visualize themselves getting bigger,thougher-- after a few months they had increased muscle size by approx.5-15% ONLY BY THINKING ABOUT IT
There have been many Saints and Miracle Workers in History, and all of those Miracles came from somewhere. So yes, there is an ability that can exercise a Will Power to do virtually anything that is ordinarily thought to be impossible. In dreams we can already do many of these things. In Dreams our Will Powers have many more choices, and many more potentials.
Perhaps it is only a matter of expertise. It seems to me that Dreams are always presenting newer and more advanced Tests. We are being guided toward the refinement of our abilities as well as being drawn toward the etherealization of our character and behaviors.
Is this an endless improvement -- increments that accumulate with no end -- toward an infinite aggragation. Well, perhaps. But maybe at a certain point, the Collective Mind can trust us to have the same Powers in the Physical World as we now have in the Dream Realms. Maybe dreams are like a kind of Flight Simulator -- where we can practice all of these Powers without the danger of actually 'crashing'. We will know, if anybody here ever finally gets his 'Flight Licence', and upon waking find that he can no longer pass a Reality Check even when awake. I myself have a horrible time with Reality Checks in Dreams, because I always conclude that finally, in the Physical Waking World, I can levitate and perform all of the little wonders I had always wanted to.
wow... well... I've been thinking of increasing memory through dreams... and just like tygrhawk, didn't think you could increase physical attributes.... but that's interesting... even though maybe it's motivation or something... I don't know... lol... but for the main question I would have to go with the answer tygrhawk gave. Mental attributes like feeling less pain, feeling more calm, remembering better, enhancing dream recall, resting more, and things with the mind(because if you can do it with hypnosis... you could probably do it with that too)... yeah... but not physical attributes... but that does give me some doubt about my answer though... even though when you hypnotize a person you can also enhance their strength so maybe it can be possible... I don't know lol...Quote:

I believe it is possible to alter your body/mind via a dream. But you'll have to dig quite deep and dispel a bunch of illusions and other crap that is shielding your mind's "control panel"
This idea is on my "to do" list, but I never even attmpted to accomplish it.
yeah Im in agreement with EV.. I believe it is highly possible to alter your body within the dream but your focuse has to be just with no conflictions at all.Quote:

having strong will power, means bieng able to control ALL the cells and organisms, down to the cellural and molecular level , in yr body - and focusing them onto doing a certain task, however they are usually controlled by our subconcious, for survival purpose. our soul interacts with the physical reality through our biological bodies. through time will power voluntary or not, enabled creatures and animals to evolve.
:o this is some deep s*** but i agree.if this is true than a normal human could evolve itself merely by sleeping.Quote:

ive not yet had a lucid dream but my intent during one has now changed. rather than use them for recreaction or "fun" i am going to study doing this and will write again after any major breakthroughs (besides the one where i auctually lucid  )
so everyone knows where i am with my rescherch on "will & evoultion"im going to make a topic called Will & Evoultion (what a coinendence :?)
I think that if you had deep enough concentration, you could alter yourself physically, as long as there was already a mechanism for doing what you wanted to do. For example, you might be able to grow taller, because the pituitary gland can be coerced into releasing more growth hormone, but you couldn't (for example) grow another arm or regrow one that's been chopped off, because there's no mechanism for doing so (without mutation).
yes and even if you could re-grow limbs your body would be left open to dieseses that normaly dont affect humans and dieses that usally only happen once(beceause of all the work re-growing)Quote:

but (this may juest me watchen to much tv but,) if you made a fake arm with all the connections fake nerves, blood veins, ect than attach it you could, therioctly, tell your body to accept this as a real limb and have it attach real nerves to fake nerves and fake blood vessels to real blood vessels ,ect ect ect
This is fast on the track to sounding ilke that Red Dwarf episode where Lister loses his right arm ("I meant the left one...you killed my favourite arm!").

thought patterns and nurons hunh?I get all of that but .......ummm....yeah..... whats *thinking why dont I know this*</span>
Let's say I want to grow taller, (I want btw) as I am 20 years old If tell my brain to release more HGC it wouldn't work cause my growth plates are closed but what do you think about this: I realise I am in a dream and I "imagine" a picture of my bones on a wall, then I focus on (let't say) my limbs, and I "try" to send osteoblasts (the cells that create new bone, maybe that's the name, I don't remember) there. Would that work, or I would be just imaginating it? What do you think? Ideas are welcome. Also, I have "lazy eye" or amblyopia on one eye, that means that my eye is healthy but I don't see right even with glasses (I see 10/20 I think) because me brain didn't develop so it would capture the images coming from the eye. I think I can do something about this.
Yes that would probally work. Although it would take VERY MUCH concration.
