Has anyone read either of these books?
I just started 'Mastering Astral Projection' lastnight after having one of my first full-blown OBE's.... however I was not able to seperate... so I think this book will prove to be a very useful tool!

I have read it, and it will only be useful to you with consistent practice and study.
It's a very comprehensive and easily understandable book.
Bruce seems like simply one more New Age Guru who presents an aesthetically appealing system designed to offend the least number of people. What substance he presents is more or less a summation of the Work done on Astral Projection over the last century and a half by the real explorers. What Bruce provides is much akin to the lecture notes one borrows from a friend if we couldn't make it to the class ourself. There are places where he seems eager to be original, but the problem with Originality in the Spiritual Field is that if nobody has perceived these particular truths but himself, then how Universal could they possibly be. It is as though he is making it up so that we will be able to present material in his seminars that not everybody has already heard before, which is what would happen if he simply went over the material that Oliver Fox, Muldoon, and Monroe had presented decades earlier.
yet he does bring together a good working synthesis of all these other systems, if you can forget what is original to himself which probably is based on no greater reality than being the only thing left in the realm of intellectual thought that had not been copyrighted before by somebody else. Perhaps I am being cynical, but it is difficult to put one's faith in doctrines that could be original only so that they could receive royalties every time they are repeated.
For the uneducated in the field, it is a good general start. He clearly states that he falls under the "what works works" area of OBE induction and experimentation.
You could give him a little more credit than that of a "New Age Guru" because I see the connotation that comes with it. The opposite comes out from what I read in the book. Although no doubt he has been involved with the New Age-y types more or less. You can't really get into esoteric and mystical realms without encountering some New Age-y stuff.

Hey, once these people start to sell their souls for a Dollar -- books, copyrights, seminars -- then they have to get what they've been paid for, which is an automatic doubt about their future credibility. Is it only a Job? Is it just Entertainment? Is the 'product' just a 'product'? You know, with house payments, boat payments, and paying those bills that piled up last season at Aspen, it becomes rather tempting to make a new Spiritual Discovery that will justify writing a new book and convince a sated public to return to the next Seminar Tour. Like with the Carlos Kastenada series -- it became too lucrative to put away.
You can even catch these New Age Gurus justifying themselves -- they become almost open in admitting that their Success took on a life of its own, as in, "Look, I believe in this crap and now everybody is giving me money hand over fist". It is no longer about the Teaching anymore. It becomes what the Teaching was able to get for them, and the subtle inference that "you too can be rich and successful once you stop caring as much as I have stopped caring."

You attribute the book to being a product of greed when in fact the book is meant to be a helpful guide to the astral plane for those that are visiting it for the first time.

Most does not mean all. Exceptions exist, although, it is possible you are correct.
Robert Bruce's information on the feet chakras (and hands) is incredibly important. Spend a few hundred (or thousand) hours pushing energy out the feet as he suggests in his books. It is really practical and effective information. Supposedly, information on opening and working on releasing energy through the feet chakras is some super high Buddhist secret; I couldn't believe it when I read about that (not in his book). Something so simple...but people overlook how incredibly important it is. You should, ideally, be pushing energy out the feet everyday for hours, because there is so much foreign energy in everyone's space.

For years a majority of Bruce's work was available for free, and in fact still is. He also makes himself available to answer any questions that his readers (or any member of his forum on his astral dynamics website) have, and has responded to me in detail and sincerity multiple times. He seems like a genuine guy to me. The man needs to make a living, of course he's going to sell his books.
Leo, I'm curious to hear what original aspects of his work you believe do not corroborate with the experiences of other explorers.
