Cosmic energy?

Whenever I do meditation either sitting or when I'm laying down to AP or WILD I get a rather pleasant tingling feeling. It can get pretty intense at times so much that it can take my concentration off my breath and just knock me into full consciousness then it will slowly subside. It feels different than vibrations, and a basic way to describe it would be the "goosebumps" you get when a singer hits a high note in a beautiful song but much longer and more prevalent. When i take deep breaths during meditation, it seems to just flow through various parts of my for a few second every couple of breaths. It also seems to be a type of current flowing through my body hitting me in waves as i'm starting to enter a dreamscape. There a some soft vibrations are felt as well.

So whatever you want to call it: Cosmic energy, life force, Chi, Qi, Prana... Is this what is flowing through my body during meditations. The energy flows before any vibrations so they should have a relation to one another but feel different. I've just been curious about it for a long time now so if anyone has an idea or experience with it and can help me understand it... well that would be nice :cheeky:

Yes, I get that each time I lie down and clear my mind and breathe deeply, I know exactly what you are describing.
I believe that when you clear your mind in meditation, you let go of all resistant or negative thoughts that are causing you to resist this wonderful flow of energy. The energy is almost the same as when you are really happy, not thinking anything negative and it feels really good. When you go meditate, you lose resistance and allow this energy to flow through you., and because you are more focused, you are more able to notice the tingling and goosebumps that this energy causes your body to make.

I've gotten this in meditation a few times. Its like gnarly tingly on my face and feels pretty good. I wouldn't worry about it. Just go with it.

I think when you are relaxed enough and in meditation then you start noticing that flow of energy, but it is really always there.

There are many techniques to direct the energy of the body if you are interested in learning. I've been learning to control it as part of the training for the DVASA, learning slowly to control the energy body in my hands, feet and then throughout the entire body.

You can direct this flow through any part of your body, and target specific areas and receive direct sensation in return. Given that you know of the different names for it, I'll assume that you know about the 7 major energy centers/chakras throughout your body. Given that you feel energy sensations and vibrations in your WILD attempts I really do recommend that you learn to control your energy :)

It has become for me something I use every day. When I'm feeling tired I will sit and raise energy, when I'm bored I will run energy up and down my fingers, etc. It's generally such an interesting thing to learn and I'm sure I have a lot more to learn later.

I will note though that you shouldn't mess with your root chakra TOO much, through the advice of Naiya. As a child, she activated 'kundalini', a terrifyingly painful and un-treatable pain that shoots throughout your entire body, for hours at a time, for weeks on end. You don't have much to worry about but I thought I would add this for good measure.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution to the subject matter, I appreciate it. I believe this energy is cosmic energy as I've been meditating for quite some time now and this is what i get during extreme concentration. One time i remember entering what appeared to be the first jhana, I saw my field of vision expand, the area was a nice purple/pink hue and my upper body and lower abdomen were exploding with this energy. Which everything i've read states you receive cosmic energy during intense concentration and this moment was one of the strongest concentration I have ever had.

But as for what your saying Dark_Merlin. I'm pretty familiar with chakras as well as anything to do with energy but I have never been able to control the energy. I would love to be able to raise my energy, run it through my fingers, or anything else that increases my energy by will. I would be extremely gracious if you have any techniques that you could tell me that can help me develop these skills.

Oh and by the way I've had some intense experiences with my root and sacral chakra. One moment some much energy was in that area trying to expand causing severe heat and energy rushes that it made a wild but practically unbearable experience. so I can understand how unpleasant an unexpected Kundalini awakening can be as my experience comes no where in comparison to a full blown awakening.

The beginning exercises start with an exercise to learn about the brushing/sponging actions. I'll try to summarise it down quickly. I recommend you do a quick google for Robert Bruce - Mastering Astral Projection and download the PDF :)

The brushing action is simple and effective as a visualisation. Hold out one of your hands infront of you, and slowly stroke one of your fingers up, and then back again. Then, visualise that there is a thin paint brush running up and down your finger, recreating the sensation. You should feel energy sensations in your fingers and learn to move and control them. Move on to brush the rest of your fingers one by one, up and down your arms, your toes, feet, legs, etc.

The sponging action is like a brushing action from the inside. When you have used the brushing action on all the sides of a finger, try imagining that there is a sponge/pipecleaner slowly running through the inside of your finger, causing energy sensations around the circumference. Continue on to do the rest of your fingers, hands, feet, legs, etc :)

Then you start doing both sides at the same time, carefully sponging all your fingers at the same time, then toes, feet, legs and so on. Eventually you get to the 'energy bounce' which is quickly 'bouncing' energy from head to toe by sponging through your entire body. :)
