      Going out

Yesterday I had my first OOBE in a while even though I've been practicing meditation and RC's regularly. I've also been using the Gateway Experience by the Monroe Institute.

After reading some articles about relaxing techniques and such I realized I've been having the wrong approach regarding going out of the body. No matter how much or how fast I can relax my body it still doesn't help me as much as I would like to get out.

Having the right mindset is crucial, at least for me.

So, last night I relaxed my body as usual but instead of trying to control my train of thought and keep my mind blank I just said to myself "I want to have an OOBE tonight" over and over again to influence my subconsciousness to wake me up at the right moment.

It paid off. I had my first OOBE in months and it was great. Even though I wasn't able to be out for very long before I snapped back, due to over excitement, I'm still satisfied with the results.

I believe, and hope, that this will be a turning point in my adventures out of the body.

Nice job Chaps! Mind set is very important. Remember when using affirmations you must keep it in the present tense and don't use words like want.....even though it worked for you anyway. Try saying "I have out of body experiences".

      Keep up the good work.

I may have the same issue as you. I can easily relax and put my body to sleep. But I can't seem to get out of my body or slip into a dream - either lucid or a re-entry. I have been working an an affirmation for the last week or so. The one I use (I have a whole list covering different aspects of my life) is, "Today I want to Astral Project." But I haven't tried to project since using it. I'm hoping I'll be able to tomorrow, I have a forum user I have to track down and yank out of his body...

      Your resistance to something,
Is the only power it has over you.
      This too, will pass.

      Hello DreamBliss,

I would suggest affirming "I astral project". Saying it over and over again as long as possible. Also, you should use reality checks along with affirmations. For me it was for LDing, which I do not have many on my count since my start, but i have been LDing since I was young. What worked very well for me is affirming "I lucid dream" on a deep in breath and "I remember my dreams" on the out breath. My other main and most powerful weapon was reality checking, using my hands. As frequently as possible look at your hands and ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" Do this when anything odd happens during the day and whenever you remember. If you do this a lot for a month you will start looking for your hands (as Don Juan Matas may have said) in your dreams. As soon as this subconscious habbit occurs in while your dreaming you will most likely become aware. Use anchoring techniques to deepen the LD. Have fun!

P.S. Read Robert Bruce for more info and detailed instruction on AP/OBE/OOBE
