      Attempting AP's: Losing Consciousness Quickly

      Hi all,

I have attempted LD'ing on and off for several years now without too much success, but recently my mind has been opened to the realm of AP's.

My biggest problem seems to be I lose consciousness very easily, perhaps because I have pretty intense hypnagogic imagery/audio.

This translates into falling asleep within 5-10 minutes. I also easily get 11+ hours of sleep with only waking up a couple of times. This is true even if I have been sleeping that much for weeks on end. Every time I wake up I feel like I could sleep more, and want to. (I don't mind being awake once I'm up).

When trying to AP, trying to hold on to a mantra and repeat it while falling asleep, I start to forget words right away (or say wrong ones) and it feels like i'm under a waterfall that is sucking my consciousness away. It takes so much effort to snap back out of the imagery and remember the words. After a while, it almost feel like my mind is aching.

Is it normal to be "sucked away" that quickly? Any thoughts on what it means, or how deal with lots of imagery and not get lost in it? Is the goal to maintain awareness while entering into the imagery, or while staying aloof of it?

      Thanks for any input!

Sounds like Your trying to walk into astral projection via the wake induced lucid dream technique. This is a great technique to pursue and takes sometime to master. If your goal is to simply astral project I would suggest trying easier methods like dream exit induced lucid dream technique and apply it immediately upon awakenings with the intent of separation. In this moment you imagine physically rolling out with out moving your muscles. Deilds matched with intent to separate usually yields quick positive results. Hope this helps. Namaste.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation
