It is very hard to WILD at any time you want, when you have not just come from rem. e.g. Before bed.
So my question is, can you OBE at any time?
I mean without it being extremely difficult like WILDing at any time.

Yes you can. I have read authors that say that at some times of the day it is almost impossible whereas other authors say that it is very easy to do it at that same time of day. I am experimenting at the moment with the OBE method described in the book, 'Miracle of Universal Psychic Power'. He claims that for him and his students at ESP lab it worked remarkably well when used before bedtime, a time of day notoriously known to be bad for practicing OBE's and WILD's.
Given that an OBE is not a dream, shouldn't you be able to do them at any time at all, including when awake? WILD's are tied directly to dreaming, which is why they're so hard to do at night (it's difficult to hold onto consciousness while waiting through delta sleep for the first REM cycle), but not so for OBE's. Right?
I find OBE's harder to achieve at night compared to the morning but I have read of people that can have OBE's within a matter of minutes or even seconds at any time of day.
I kind of believe that OBEs are just lucid dreams. That's why I thought they could not be done any time.
If OBE actually worked it would be proven, it would be on the news.
People would of locked someone in a room and got them to OBE and find something out from the outside world that they couldn't know. And they would of filmed it and mad a documentary and put it on the news.
I'm open minded about it. But I just can't understand
Lobsan Rampa said, (more or less) that going OBE is a case of deep *physical* relaxation while staying conscious, like a cat. He said house cats go OBE almost each time they cat-nap. Humans hardly ever physically relax enough to slip out of there body consciously.
Deep and complete relaxation releases the astral body. Lobsang Rampa said if one can't relax then the astral-you is body-bound, (inprisoned inside the body).
That's why I like Nick Newports free Lucidology 101. Nick gives streatching exercises because streatching relaxes muscles making them soft and limp. He says to concentrate on relaxing the Jaw and shoulders because the jaw and the shoulders hold the most of the bodies tension.
Nick say's to notice how relaxed your eyes are when you first wake up and remember how they, (your eyes) felt then after half an hour of gently stretching and other OBE preparation relax your eyes.
Stop Drop and Roll is for releasing tention in the shoulders.
Nick says to notice where the tention was that made you need to move as you were falling to sleep and target that area with streaching exercises before your next Lucid Dreaming/OBE attempt.
Yes you can leave your body at will however it's ten times harder to do so from a fully physical foucused state for novices. The best approach is to attempt separation immediately upon awakening because your already in-between that wake and sleep state. Perfect time to separate.
So for OBE it isn't coming from rem that makes it easier it's just coming from sleep?
This is a great tutorial on how to OB - scroll down to part 3 "Projection training' and expand it. I find this site invaluable in learning about OBEs, astral planes and their inhabitants and other related stuff.
Treatise on Astral Projection
This is what they say: 'Note: Deep physical relaxation is the key to bringing on the trance state, i.e., deep relaxation causes the trance state. Once you are in the trance state, projection on the astral body is relatively easy.'
I have tried it a couple of times, but didn't follow precisely. I just did basic muscle relaxation. I managed to get into vibrational state, but they were weak. Friend of mine told me, I was probably more awake than asleep, that's why. So I guess you still need to fall asleep, but sleeping before may not be required.
On the other hand, when I told myself 'when I wake up at night, I will be motionless', each time I woke up and swiched position, I immediatelly got vibrations. For 5 seconds I tried to project, but was too sleepy to give it some serious effort.
As it was said here, it's easier to project when just woken up from sleep, because you are already in relaxed state.
And I'm just gonna mention Galantamind - my first 2 unintentionall OBEs were early morning with GM while trying to WILD. Since then I have had more OBEs, all with GM. Now that I know how it feels and what to do, I want to learn to project without GM. I have already learned to WILD without it.
