      Patterns upon waking

      On a few occasions, when I am just waking up, I will see an image in my still closed eyes.
      It is always a complex, symmetrical pattern.
      I have seen five, and six pointed stars, which are always very steady images.
      The most recent image has been squares within squares. ( I will have to do some drawings, and add them at a later date )
      This is not dream, or imagination, as the shapes do not change colour, or shape.
      I would say similar to when you stare at a bright light, and there is an after-image, but the image from a light quickly fades.
      These patterns stay for around 15 to 30 seconds, and are crystal clear.
      If anybody else has had a similar experience, I would be very interested.

      Do you see them with eyes opened or closed?

      These geometric patterns are common (with eyes closed) as you are falling asleep and getting close to dreaming, so it could be possible to see them as you waking up, since you may be in a similar state as when falling asleep.

      I see glittering clouds of colors spiraling. Almost always in a symmetrical fashion, but it normally consists of hundreds of small pixels in patterns.

      It's as if, upon waking, I stared at hundreds of tiny suns in the horizon and then the wall. The odd thing is, though, even though the light patterns are the same as if I started at a bright light, they are MOVING... normally in a large circle or something similar. This has happened more than once to me.

      Nothing I've ever done in waking life can replicate what's happened to me this way upon JUST waking up. Being fully in your body, being able to move, and yet still seeing the lingering colors swirling around your eyes (and feeling a... presence)... is a weird sensation.
