That is called vertigo. It's a normal experience even though it's not noticed by everyone as they go to sleep, it can be medically explained (release of pressure in the blood vessels near the brain when transitioning from "stress-fullness" into a state of "rest"). Just the fact that you're aware of this process means you're a bit more sensitive to changes in light, sound, smell, taste, touch, and awareness - your reaction and response to changes might even be quicker than others. |
