Being more than certain of a deja vu momentq

So this happened a couple days ago. I was sitting in the bathroom in a hotel, looking down at my ipod, and I got hit with the most intense wave of deja vu I've ever experienced. I remembered being in that same hotel, looking down at my iPod with that same album cover on it, and it felt like I could have lived this same moment at least 5 times or so. This was coupled with the realizations that I'm not real, that I'm actually in same really elaborate waking dream, just some ego that my self made up because I'm actually somewhere just dreaming all this up. This information came to me almost instantaneously coupled with the deja vu feeling. It's not like normal deja vu that I have experienced either. I was 100% certain of some memory locked deep away in my subconscious of me sitting in that same bathroom coming to the same realization. Now as the days go on I'm still getting bombarded with more deja vu than I've ever experienced, although it is getting less and less. What could be causing this?

The only possible explanation I can come up with is that somewhere, I'm just laying there dreaming all this up, must have taken some powerful hallucinogen that erases all your memories and lets you live this fake dream life until you become lucid enough to break free. Otherwise I just don't see how I could have had that same realization countless times before and felt the exact same way about it.

That night since I was convinced I was about to be "woken up" because I found out I wasn't even real to begin with, I had this dream that I must have had countless times too. It felt like the most lucid I've ever been with my current memories. It felt like I was about to be reincarnated, yet my ego scuttled away in fear. Yet I remember being in that same position before, thinking the same thoughts, having these same beliefs, and viewing the same exact scene. A voice to me in the dream said it was like opening Pandora's Box, once you go through you cannot go back. It attributed it to looking through a series of mirrors.

      Any ideas?

Might be precognition or precognitive dream that you did not recall. Check my thread on this

I agree on this, but i also had a deja vu in one dream, but it was a past life memory, seeing someone i knew or was about to know, and that very scene i was like this happened "before". And i don't recall it happening in this lifetime.

Once i had lucid dream where i was sure that i am in my previous life, i was extremely interested to find whom i was, but i could not. Hopefully one day i will find out what kind of life i had, but there might be no previous life's at all, that is also possible.

Usually when I have a deja vu, I feel the strong feelings of deja vu in that moment and for a couple of more moments ahead but as soon as the deja vu is over and I think back on it, I imidiately get the feeling of how obvious it was that it was only a deja vu and that it had not happened before. Are you saying that you kept on thinking until now that you had been in that bathroom? Or did that feeling, as I described, slowly rinse away?

This would make sense, except this all happened in waking life. It's weird, I used to be prone to deja vu here and there, but then all of a sudden over the coarse of a week I became aware and noticed 15-20 absolutely certain ones, although yes, they do seem to be fading now as the absurdity of my life situation is changing.

And in response to Daban, yes, the feeling did slowly rinse away, although the feeling of absolute certainty does not. Looking back at the moment I can remember clearly 5 or so times being stuck in that bathroom having that same experience, except I cannot remember what happens after that moment, only carry the memories from this cycle or lifetime.

I have a theory on deja vu, and i am fairly certain i actually understand what is going on here... Ofcourse, this doesn't have any significant meaning

Funny you should mention, i actually had an EXTREMELY vivid dream that exactly matched this scenario. In this dream i was coming down from a really long salvia trip. A time dilating trip that lasted 18 years to be precise. My entire life. It was just a trip. I was amazed. And confused.. But in this other reality i saw my friends pick me up. People that are all in a room. Laughing at me, they knew where i went on that trip. They have all been there. Lived the trip of trips, and gotten out of the maze that we call the material world. Something to that extend are my thoughts.

It is sort of a joke. I smoked the salvia in that dimension, and it brought me here. I'm still not coming down. Hehehehe.

Anyways, i think that a deja vu is a spiritual thing. Your mind is suddenly filled with a perfect lucidity. Vision sharpens, the senses are heightened. And you suddenly realize what you are doing. It comes in significant periods where some significant event is unfolding. Something that accompanies a deja vu is a sort of glitch. Something is just not exactly right. Your soul knows the future, your ego is kind of clueless. It is your ego that needs to be aligned with the soul to truly 'wake up' so to speak. Atleast, that's what i'm conjecturing right now. But perhaps a deja vu is a sign that something is RIGHT. And things are unfolding exactly as they should. Dunno

I have these deja vu moments. It can be a dream for me. I am absolutely certain that i have had the same dream before. I remember clearly, that it already happened. I am wondering why it is happening again. It's more confusing than a deja vu in waking life, because.. It is actually possible to have a recurring dream. But when i wake up from this dream, i realize. I didn't have this dream before. Nop. Why then was i so certain at the time that this happened before? It had to have been a deja vu.

I reject the notion to explain a deja vu by means of precognitive dreaming. Not that the theory doesn't hold up. It explains just that, precognitive dreaming. Deja vu's are a different phenomenon. It is real, in the sense. That this exact moment happened before. More than once, and it will occur again. Untill the soul is aligned. Then it is enlightened.
