Bedtime meditation into different stages of sleep

One meditation book I was reading (I tried to find it, to reference it, I wasn't sure which one it was, I have a few!), said to try meditation at bedtime, and because sometimes my 12 hour shifts gives me less time to meditate (even tho I meditate at home and work in short batches, because it helps me, and makes me feel good inside, and gets me motivated for work or play), I'd been doing it already. If you're too tired, you won't get much meditating, but the stages of sleep made my meditating surreal, and, well, nice! I also wondered if anyone else has tried/done this, and in my opinion it seems like the combination of meditation and the stages of sleep (beta, alpha, theta, delta), and hopefully dreaming, can work wonders to get into "no thought" meditation, and even concentrated meditation, and possibly advanced meditation, in combination of advanced stages of sleep/dreaming/lucid dreaming!

I've tried meditating before bed only to dose off and wake up to my loud snore. :-). i work long hours like you. I guess if u could maintain awarness long enough the experience could be surreal as you say. I use meditation to help manifest things in my life. Just have to digest the fact that thinking about something for long periods of time is just half the battle the other half is to physically get there. Or vice versa.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

I think half of us here do this at least some, because it is basically what a WILD attempt is.

For more information on what WILD is and how it can be done please see Sageous' class here,WILD

Never meditated, so I do not know if you can call this meditation but have a read. http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...ll-asleep.html

Meditating for me has kind of lit up what is otherwise a dark hallway on the way to sleep. Honestly after doing it on instinct so much, it's hard to tell if I'm actually falling asleep when I am, though some nights are worse than others for this. That's probably because of a bit too much awareness, but it's just tricky to balance at times.

Otherwise, meditating all the way into hypnogogia is the norm for me, and a really interesting experience every night that it happens. I find that my threshold to make peace with my mind is a lot better when I'm sleeping, but more intense anxieties are brought out to confront to try to tamper with my meditation.
