I know it's not a good idea to try to induce one right before you go to sleep, but would trying to induce one in the middle of the day when you're wide awake be an okay option? Do any of you guys have a suggested time that works better than another in your opinions?
Actually the normal method is WILD at bedtime. It requires staying aware in nREM, so you do not need wbtb.Quote:

That is how I used to do it. WILD is recommended with WBTB because REM happens more then. OBE does not require REM, so doing at bedtime is best in my opinion. You really do not want your brain throwing random crazy stuff in your way like it would in REMQuote:

Anyway, you need good relaxation and concentration, to reach needed state of mind/body. Then you separate from body... I read some recommends during years... But I can say only this. I did OBEs during nights, mornings, noon afternoon, during strong winds or hailstorms outside, during different moon phases... And I did't have any problems with outside conditions... Only problem comes from within ourselves.
I'm going to go out on a limb, and suggest that as with most things timing is always the main thing.I would also hazard a guess that ancient monuments like Stonehenge etc. were, along with the people with the Golden wizard type hats that ran them, knew all about timing. So shoot me down if you think I'm on the wrong track here. But isn't it logical to assume that we are part of the environment. So environmental factors could well be taken into the equation. Or is it just coincidence that, massive structures have been built for the priest class to track the movement of the stars. The fact that the Sun and Moon effect the earth in non subtle ways, could be added, that the rest of the cosmos exerts more subtle, energies on our psych as well? The fact that in a world where natural efficiency for the sake of survival, gets switched off for at least 8 hours in sleep , because if it doesn't we slowly sicken and die. would on the face of it look like a gross natural inefficiency which of course nature isn't. I suggest that most of us go to bed at night trying for the elusive OBE/Lucid dream, and that at present they are gained according to the chance factor that the timing has been lucky.
