Every day, a few tens of minutes before sleep, and when need arises once a few day I make ~1-3 hour exercises aimed to OBE ... then concentration exercises a few times per day for about 5-10 minutes.
Honestly I think about ap and Obe 24/7 like u I really find this section of dream views interesting. However I may only attempt an Obe once every three months. Work has a lot to do with it but the taste of the Obe experience is very satisfying 2 me. :-)
Psionic, first off I love your user name. Clever. Also, it seems that you practice a lot. What, maybe 4 hours a day? Have you always spent this much time on OBE and how long have you been spending this much time? I'm curious to know because I was wondering how good one can get at these types of things with more and more practice. We have a lot of people here that dabble in LD, OBE, RV, AT etc., and some that are more serious.
Thank you dreamcatcher. So you do put a lot of energy into OBE also. Has practicing more and more gotten you any better? I would think naturally it would. The Buddhist Monks and Swamis meditate for long periods and we have much of our knowledge from their teaching whether directly or indirectly. How skilled could we become following a real program of OBE exercises?
:) Since I didn't want to go under my name... and also I don't use nickname I got on high school since it is known in my circles :) Some people knows and some not about my interests... I prefer it will stay that way :)
It is practicing and practicing...
One can practice through normal day, to live in here and now moment, to exercise short concentration techniques, and so on... And then there are dedicated exercises... I don't allocate time for exercises(not possible with family), I do them as I feel the need. I would say around 1.5-2 hours a day would be more exact... with a few times of 1-3 hours exercises through a week. I started to do relaxation techniques firstly without any sources of information when I was around 11 years old(I simply laid down and relaxed muscles one by one...) and later I found autogenic training techniques in Sci-Fi novel written by Czech author(later I found that autogenic training is a real set of exercises). I focused on OBE(travels out of body) after one accidental travel out of body during exercises... When I was single, I used to train more... reflexes from that times lasted. Now I'm 41. Life is more complex.
I'm not as good in OBE as I would like... My aim is to do OBE every time I want. After so much time I find it unrealistic. There were times I did around 10 travels a week... It was concentrated to one or two exercises- I went out... and when I was forced to come back due to instabilities in mind set, I went out again in short order. Now I'm down to 1 travel a month. I'm quite good in staying out of body now, but I have problems to reach right relaxation, concentration and state of mind. I fall in relaxation fast. But I very often overdo the concentration and state of mind changes to... something I thought to be the only meditation state... state of here and now, without thoughts, without will to change that state. I don't have the will to go out of my body in that state.
While LD are OK, I have problems to induce them. As I stated a few times, Reality checks don't function by me. I'm not sure why. I remember quite a few times I questioned reality in a dream and I concluded in such dream that indeed, that that dream is reality, even if there were fantastic features... So WILD technique is best for me, since I know from start that I'm going to dream. And again problem :) Exercises (I do so long) are focused on being here and now... I start to imagine, focusing on picture, or flying through tunnel... to dream. But after very short time I'm automatically shutting my imagination down. You see, OBE doesn't rely on imagination, in fact even if I have good imagination I'm used to shut it down as to not take fantasy. To be in here and now, in astral world without fantastic features. I exercised so long against imagination that I shut them automatically out. So I'm actually less successful in inducing LD than inducing an OBE
I have feeling that I do not travel because I have some talent on it, on the contrary... maybe I can go out of body even if I'm total antitalent to do OBE :D And because of that, my travels are not so frequent.
It seem like you have a little conflict there Psi. I totally get what you are saying. Similar experience here. I finally decided to continue practicing what was the most practical to me to avoid the conflict of control or no control. I mostly prefer meditation now and let what insights come as they may. I am beginning with the Buddha meditations and plan to spend about 1 hour a day at first then move accordingly with an increasing schedule. I have to put aside all my previous "favorites". Meaning the old way that I used to meditate. Hopefully it will improve my life and mood etc.
I also am into remote viewing now as opposed to AT in the past. AT is not useful to me at this point, nor is it practical, so I choose to work at RV, which is easier anyway and less adverse to the other pet projects that I am endeavoring to understand.
At any rate, I wish you well on your endeavors!
Thank you :)
OBE to other dimensions... may be to other times as well. I try to find a way how to see this reality from higher ones... It is confusing... But I had once seen what was doing ma friend in her work, Once I was with friend and saw her sleeping(I described her room as I saw it, and she told me it looks like it). ...and a few times I was in future and saw a future which fulfilled itself... So, isn't there remote viewing? :)
I wish you luck as well, the road may be hard, but our dreams give it a meaning.
I feel the end result of AT and RV are the same. The process is the big difference IMO.
Good luck to you as well.
I used to practice AP about 15 to 20 hours a week for about a year. I hardly ever went OBE. I wish I could spend more time practicing WILD'ing now, but I chronic pain, and it wakes me up, makes it hard to fall asleep sometimes.
I'm sorry to hear about the pain and I think I read it was a pinched nerve in your neck. Have you tried or been prescribed GABAPENTIN, or another name is NEURONTIN? Someone close to me had severeheadachs and neck and eye pain due to a pinched nerve in the c-2 area. No pain reliever or muscle relaxer helped. Not even Soma. So finally the DR. realized it was prolly a pinched nerve and not muscular and prescribed the gabapentin. Within a few days there was great relief. It's been almost a month and his life is almost normal. So don't give up.
Gabapentin is often used for people with MS or nerve damage to help with the pain and burning sensation.
