      OBE confusion??

I read about REM Atonia a few days ago and that night I had a dream where I saw myself in my bed but I was sitting up right and moving my arms. My reaction to this was assuming that I had lost the ability to dream without acting out what I was doing inside of the dream. This scared me and I woke myself up. As soon as I was awake and I knew that I was dreaming before, I was disappointed because I didn't turn this OBE into a lucid dream. Now that I look back at this, I think that this was a false awakening. Overall, this dream was very confusing and I'm really not sure what was real and what wasn't. Can anyone relate to this, help me understand it, or give advice as to how I could've possibly turn that into an LD? Thanks!

Something like that happened to me once when I was about 11 or 12. Same thing as far as sitting up, but my dream was overlapping with what I saw in the darkness of my room. There was a shadow and I thought it was a friend trying to scare me. But everything else in my room was all dreamy. I tried to yell at my " friend, but no words came out. No sound at all. So I'm sitting up with my eyes open half in reality and half in a dream, but I was also paralyzed.
my guess looking back was SP with HH that stayed with me while I was awake or the nightmare was already in progress and I sat up then the SP hit and was layered with hallucinations.
Its weird and its also impressive that you realized you could or should have LD.

I had many false awakening... and dozens of multiple false awakening. That means, I woke up... did only a few things, as standing up, going to put dress on... and then waking again... standing up and waking again...and again... sometimes more then 5-6 times in row. Then I resign to try to stand up... I only wait to see whether it is, or it isn't dream- I concentrate hard to wake up. In LD I'm able to wake up on my own will. But when I don't know whether I'm dreaming? Only mild success.
As I wrote elsewhere, reality check is nearly impossible for me, because I take even fantastic things in dream as real. Only from awakened state I see differences.

So- I have similar experiences, but I don't know how to turn such dream to LD.
Australian aborigines are describing this reality as form of dream If I understood it right(maybe not )
