I totally agree, I feel from film product that there is need to film dark movies, conflicts... Like there is no optimism for human race today. There are so many fears projected, of future(eg. unknown, but extrapolated) of outside world... It is kind of sad.
People, please try to understand, there is no fear as such... It is imagination, it is expectation of something what will most probably not come true. And it is not true in present for certainity.
I don't know the film you are talking about, but perhaps it might be useful to explain to people exactly why you disagree with it?
Did you saw for example inception? There were some possibilities how dream could look like, if you have control(LD). But the dangers of dream were so great :D... Some master author that must took to make people die from dream only because tey were in some other dream.
Or I saw quite old film where some people could go inside dreams and make therapeutic session(curing paranoia, fears...) But healer could be killed by things in dreams of others... also others people could be killed by healer... (horror Dreamscape)
Or I saw some movie where there was young healer and she took spirit(soul) of dying man into her to find where is some girl trapped... otherwise that girl would be killed...
Or there was oooold video game I think Eidolon? I didn't play it, but it was also about travelling inside mind...
Oh yes, that is mainly about dreams(except that videogame) but they had signs of astral travels, Dreamscape for example... Or that dream inside dream? (Inception) Woman existed there without needing of body? She was trapped there.
Hollywood movies have one major problem - they have to appeal to a large audience. That means such movies have no chance of being authentic in every way. Why do you think people die when killed in a virtual world, as shown in "The Matrix" ? Isn't that nonsense? And I'm not even gonna comment on "Inception" :). That's the reason there have to be demons and ghosts in "Insidious". It would otherwise be boring for an average consumer. The creators just needed another "Paranormal Activity" movie and added a topic that's currently popular. Hollywood movies are not a good source of information ;).
They could do something like spiritual film with romantic plot. For example about shared dreaming- main character could be boring normal man/woman, but he could train LD or OBE... and explore. And meet someone there. And at the end, or close to end he could find that there is some reality in what he/she experiences meeting partner in physical world... No dangers need to be displayed, or they could be displayed as they are in reality- only relative, not reaching to physical reality. There could be comedic experiences or plots...
That wouldn't be much out of what is possible... well if shared dream is possible, but that that possibility is there at least.
