Is this a premenition or OBE

      Hello

Im new to this site and this is my first listing. I had a dream 2 nights ago that is still creating alot of mixed thoughts. I listed this on a couple of other sites, and is quite long to describe. So I will put the bare facts in that continue to make me dwell. First I'm sure it might be job related Because Im trained in this field.
My dream was about myself helping out a local Police station, trying to save some hostages in a church. Although I deal with Prisoners on a daily basis. I helped organized a S.W.A.T. team and essembled at the church. Although we got the hostages out, This is where it goes bad. Nobody did what they were trained to do in this situation. They stormed the church, ran in and out of every room not searching under and through things.
O.K. now. I Drew my weapon, started seaching the lower level, room by room. I then notice a table partially baracaded, I got into position, crouched down my gun in hand. I looked in and what appeared to be a leg, it twitched. I began to call for assistance, all I got out is "I" Then the BLAST from a shot gun. It HIT me right in the forehead. I felt the blast, I dropped to my left side, the way I was sleeping. My body went completly limp, and totally at peace. I could see everyone looking at me, checking me.
I was dead I knew it. I then started telling myself. "did you make it?, if you did open your eyes." Ijust layed there. I said it again. " If you survived this dream open your eyes." I never felt so peaceful, but for my kids I looked. Staring at the ceiling, I remember telling myself,I survived. Closed my eyes, and continued feeling at peace. My alarm went off at 5:30am. I jumped out of bed. started walking to the stairs,my legs felt like lead and my head felt like a balloon. The first thing I remember is this dream. as the day went on,it started making me think more and more.
Does anyone know what happened to me

Hi there, sounds like you died in your dream, and your subconscious formed a dream of 'what happens then' ?
Contrary to popular belief, you do not die in reality if you get eg. shot in a dream.

In my opinion : It's a very emotionally charged dream, and very thought provoking, but nothing 'beyond dreaming'
I don't consider it a premonition and definitely not an OBE

Of course, if this actually happens to you, I can't very well ask you to report back and say 'I told you so'

I'm brand new to the site, but I'd have to agree with placebo... it doesn't sound like an OBE, and I just want you to not worry about it being a premonition, either. I died in a dream once, and surely lived to tell the tale. Don't let it bother you. You don't need the anxiety in your life worrying about it.

It is okay...there are many that have been asking kinds of questions like those....don't be hard on yourself for it...

Sure, however we have no missing young, regular members of this site
Statistically, we should have had quite a few deaths by now if this was the case.
Many of us have experienced a death in a dream, including me. It's quite interesting and sometimes horrible, but not fatal.

That said... there is a device recently developed for hospitals that monitors people with heart problems for REM phase in their sleep - and wakes them if their heart shows anomalies.
The reason for this device? People with a heart condition tend to die in dreams, due to a stressful nightmare (or exciting sexual dream? )
But if you're quite healthy, I really wouldn't worry about it.

As for premonitions - they can happen, but they are few and far between. How many members have we had on this site that go on and on about some fantastical dream that they are convinced was special - a shared dream, or premonition ? (including me)
      One hell of a lot.
And a very small number of them turned out to be so special (as time showed, in my case)

The subconscious is a tricky bugger. Few 'special' dreams are as special as they seem at the time. Just highly interesting.

      Thanks for input

I just want to thank everyone who responded to my dream. It doesn't really bother me so much anymore, it is the thought of the shotgun going off and the blast that hit me in the forehead. that is the weirdest part. But time goes on. So, again THANKS EVERYONE
