As far as the purpose of AP/AT, I have to disagree with you. Just the process of meditation and relaxation is incredibly valuable. You learn how to still your body and mind. How to REALLY breathe and relax. The point of projection is a serious exercise in self control. For me that point is a very very fine line between letting go and holding on by a thread. I dont mean the astral cord, I mean that in the split seconds before and after projection you have to exert some will to continue with the experience, but not force the experience. If you force it or push too hard, most of the time you will just fall asleep or wake up and lose the experience completely. So I have learned self control, but I admit that I need to use that self control more in everyday life. Staying in the in between state or what I call AP for extended periods of time is also an exercise in self control, again a fine line between losing the experience and continuing on to AT where you reach a different level. It may seem like a mushroom trip to you, but I assure you that it is completely natural.
Yes. There is fine line, my body is relaxed and goes deeper and deeper in relaxation, and concentration exercise deepens it further. If I miss point where separation is possible I fall into meditation state. But before that there is time when separation is possible. It starts with feeling of something else than physical body. Second body can be separated then. It goes from difficult(at start) to easy in later stages of relaxation/concentration exercise. Hmmm... I wonder whether that meditation state I mentioned above is not separation into higher dimension too. Although I don't feel separation ...
