Can you pull someone out of body?

First off, I'm unsure where this topic fits. So I'm sorry if it's in the wrong section, but I felt it was beyond dreaming to an extent so thought it best to post it here.

I had a odd experience a few years back, where I was being pulled out of my body whilst asleep. I was halfway across my room when I realized what was happening and I got scared and scrambled free and woke up in my bed.
The hand that was pulling me out was gentle enough, though I never saw anyone and When I was being pulled out, I woke up in the same position as I was being pulled out in, which was on my side with my arms behind me.

Was I just dreaming or can other spirits, or living beings pull you out?

I mean, has this ever happened to you? what did you believe was happening?

It sounds like you were either:

1.) Experiencing a WILD, which means you were conscious of the natural experience of falling asleep
2.) Or you were already in a dream.

I don't think spirits can pull you out of body, but that is just my take on it. Hope this helps

I have WILDed only a few times, but the experience is always a bit different--being yanked forward into darkness, rolling out of your body, being dragged across the room, etc. None of it is happening to your waking body or your "spirit" (whatever that is) and none of it is dangerous. After a few times it is pretty darn fun.

Circumstances suggest questions to me, I accept them, then fate or my subconscious or something creates experiences that attempt to answer the questions. My strongest 'astral projection' experiences were like this. My personal, waking-life conscious self didn't create the experiences, they were done to me by a deeper buried part of myself, and/or something greater than myself. I think an astral projection experience is a lucid dream that attempts to metaphorically represent something deeper that is happening. If that subconscious mind that helps create the dream is also represented in the dream, that could appear as a hand pulling you out of your body. I'm not saying that's what your experience was, just that it makes sense to me as a possibility based on my experience.

      Thanks for your responses guys.
I admit I was pretty freaked out and having no real understanding of how the mind works I was unaware of the deeper aspects of it all.
I suppose it is all down to belief and I can see that if I were to believe it was a "entity other than myself," my power would wane, fear arises and paranoia reigns.

So this deeper part of me, which sounds more plausible, I will have to confront it.
But how do I find it? I don't know what it looks like or anything

My take is that there are many possibilities with these kinds of experiences and while I think it would be rare to get pulled out of body, I don't think its impossible. You said in your first post that the pulling was gentle, so whatever happened it sounds like there's nothing to worry about. If your beliefs align with the existence of spirits, then I'd say it could be a positive or guiding spirit. Like others have pointed out, it could have just been within the dream state as well, since dreaming encompasses such a broad area of experience. However if you're gut feeling is telling you it was something more than dreaming, and it really did feel different, then it is likely something more.

I started to read Journeys Out of the Body by Robert Monroe and in the introduction there is an description of the author being pulled out of his body, hence relating to this thread. His account mentions tugging at his legs and a hand helping to pull him out of body. That being said, I don't know what reasons (if at all) spirits would pull anyone out of their body, but I'm sure it was a interesting experience! I think fears about this stuff is normal though, as sleep paralysis can get scary for people, so I'd imagine that out of body experiences would also scare people if they didn't know what was going on.

If you are intending to re-experience this or confront it, then I'd say to ask for it (silently) before going to sleep. Also having an affirmation that you are safe, protected, and have the power to return to normalcy at any time can help too.
