For some background, I've been around a for a bit longer than my join date reveals. I've seen the shared dreaming attempts where people aim for the achievement of recounting the same dream as another dreamer. Same time, same place, same people, same events, that sort of thing. Obviously, there's been some challenges.
Let's discuss those!
1. People are different. How we perceive and internalize events varies.
2. People are often egocentric. Selfish. Within dreaming we typically take the -I- perspective, as opposed to the -omnipresent- perspective. This leads to the next issue. . .
3. When awake, when we journal our adventures or read others adventures, these are still egocentric focused. If it's not about me, I don't give a damn. That's probably the most abundant challenge I've noticed in various dreaming groups. Tis sad, really. Are we not all connected in some way? Duality is so out-dated.
Three big issues standing in the way of successful shared dreaming. I'm guilty of these too. However, I also put in considerable effort to minimize these factors.
Some may be asking themselves, why? What's so cool about shared dreaming?
For starters, dream sharing is actually telepathy. That's right. Telepathy is real. Dream sharers already have this skill.
What's so great about telepathy?
I dunno. What's so great about being an intelligent lifeform? For some, not much. To each their own. Free will, FTW!
So let's start a dream sharing group!
I've had this thought many, many times. It's all cool and exciting, it's just like beginning college. Got that acceptance letter, feeling a bit validated like you're going places, worth something, gonna make a big name for yourself--then the first day of school hits. Suddenly there's effort involved. You're asked to change, evolve, better yourself. Yet it doesn't always seem like that's what's being asked of you. It seems tedious, boring, you'd rather go out with friends for a slice of pizza, get a beer, a joint. It's great being able to say I'M IN SCHOOL. It's also cool to say I'M TELEPATHIC. Yet people often dislike the effort involved in either. We be lazy sometimes.
Let's talk about that effort! What does it take to make the investment in dream sharing:
1. We must journal. Listening or watching another person recount their dreams sucks. Mostly for the reason that people get sidetracked and it just takes longer. So the written word is cool. Also, people talk slower than I read. Efficiency is a plus. Unless...you don't like reading...in which case...I feel like I should revisit the more intelligent lifeform thing from above, but well...I won't.
2. We must recall. In order to study dreams, we must have them, then recall them.
3. We must communicate. Let's meet here. Let's do this. Let's just set an intent and NOT plan. Have an idea. Share it. Get people excited.
4. We must be open. Open to developing ourselves in ways we may be uncomfortable with. Be objective, try not to take things personally, accept that others will have experiences that you may not agree with. That's them, not you. Compare progress against yourself, not others.
5. Have fun. Nothing that sucks is going to last. Find a way to make it fun for you. Whether it's using brightly colored text, telling stories with pictures, incorporating music, overcoming fears, speaking to deceased loved ones, or learning the mysteries of the universe. Focus on an aspect that excites you. Perhaps you do it just to get close to someone you're interested in. Whatever the reason, embrace it.
6. Know that stress is terrible for dreaming. If you're busy with life, looking for a job, have financial difficulties, middle of a divorce, recovering from an addiction, shared dreaming probably isn't right for you RIGHT NOW. Take care of waking life first. Then, if you extra energy and desire novelty check out shared dreaming. Waking life doesn't have to be perfect, but I think putting food on the table is loads more important that playing in an etheric wonderland for shits and giggles. Priorities first.
With all this said, why is it being said?
Honestly, this is just the point I'm at with dreaming. I'm looking for a direction, the next step in my own evolution. I like shared dreaming. There's something magical about it that continues to mystify me. I'd also like to bring that form of telepathy into waking life. Why even bother with that? I don't know, really. Seems nifty. I enjoy it. Others might too. Goes back to the whole intelligent lifeform thing.
I'm secretly hoping that someone of decent intelligence and motivation will begin a not-so-official study with this focus. That's a lot to ask though, I know. One can only dream.
It's nice to see somebody who thinks the same. "I'm looking for a direction, the next step in my own evolution"
I wrote many posts here on DV and on my blog some time ago, I won't be writing same things again. So I will say in short and share some links.
First of all, I think such term as 'shared dreaming' is not valid. Sharing minds would be more correct. You are thinking right, pointing towards telepathy. You are not sharing dreams to dreams, you can, but its not a must. You can share waking life past/present memories with another person while he is dreaming and vise-versa. You can also meet in dreams and both of you will be affecting current dream. You will be picking up/syncing on most emotional and important events/memories/dreams of each other.
Here are few links on this topic on my blog.

I would be glad to exchange some info, let me know what kind of experience you had, where have you reached, what are you main concerns and etc. And first of all, are you male or female ?
P.S. Those links are kind of outdated, I did not post recent achievements, thoughts and updates on any public forums for a while.
