      Dreaming the future?

Hi there. I would like to know a little more about this subject since it is kind of different when I hear others talk about it. I had one come true last saturday and just notice it yesterday and went to my dream journal to confirm. Now by dreaming the future I mean as in, when you have a dream that I find incontrolable, ýou are in the moment and in your person, every thought and every word, aspect, people, places, everything is exactly like it happens. I have had this kind of dreams from one to eight(this number happens not to much though) times in a period of two months, and so on, since a kid, and they mostly happen the next day or as much as a month or so later; but I´ve had strange ones like this late one where they could happen 5 years laters!!!! . I tend noticing it days laters having this dejavu feeling about the moment and just go over my dream journals to see if I dreamt it(It usually does). Now this moments are nothing special where as it could be anything during a normal day. But the weird thing is that even the thoughts you have are the same, I´ve find that the only way to know that you dreamt that moment is to actually have had thought or spoke of this in the dream and it won´t change anything(wich has led me to belive that the future can´t be changed, or at least thru dreams). Now any info on why I would have this dreams or what significance of them or anything, I just simply know squat about this subject. Sorry for the long text. And thanks for any info about it

      hi -

im new here, but i posted a little about this in my introduction, you can read about me on the newbie page. as for dreaming the future, i have had similar experiences for many years that i believe to be truly dreams of the future. usually i dream of real life/day to day siutations, and although i usually remember at least one dream a night, sometimes i dont remember this particular dream until hours or days later, and its more like a flash of my dream that says, oh yeah, i dreamt this. then, weeks to years later, i experience my dream down to the finest details in real life. this has occured with a frequency of up to several times a week before. most often i have one of these experiences every few weeks. over time i drew a correlation between the situations that seemed to be the unfolding of previous dreams and my current life. usually i would have one of these experiences shortly after making a change in my life, attitude, etc. i drew the conclusion some time ago that i am indeed dreaming snippets of the future - as it should be - and when the situation unfolds, i am aware that i have fulfilled a step in my spiritual path. does this make sense ? i know it sounds very theoretical and it is - as well as my own personal interpretation of this type of dream.

      my dream of the future

As a young boy I was always very concious of my dreams but it was the t reoccuring dreams were the ones that made the greatest impression. There was one in particular reoccuring dream I could never fathom. In this dream I was in the strangest of environments overwhelmed by a combination of lights and sounds and surrounded by the strangest looking people that somehow reminded me of dylan and florence from the magic roundabout.a seemingly nonsensical The phrase that stuck in my head to describe this dream was "The Play House Puzzle" I soon realised that others were not interested in my dreams and ceased to bother mentioning them.
Many years later In the early nineties while spending my days studying Psychology at University in East London.I was a huge fan of the hardcore rave scene and in particualar the Free Underground Teckno Parties which on one occasion led me to an party in a Old School .
In the midst of the wildest of raves my friend and flatmate Kris Genius a particularly tall black guy with dreadlocks called me over to introduce some friends of his a graffiti artist "Snooze" and his girfriend. "Snooze" was also a tall black guy with long dreds while his grirlfriend was a short ( in comparison) black girl with an afro and colourful makeup. At that moment I felt as if i had been struck by lightning, as I relived one of my earliest childhood reoccuring dreams . As we stood chatting I noticed the sneakers and tracksuits which had reminded me of the magic roundabout, of course as a young child in a white suburb of Bristol in the 70's , the skin colour, features and fashions were as alien to me as was the concept of a Rave with it Lazers and Sounds.
Within weeks Snooze and his girlfriend and moved into the same hows as myself and Kris and al three were to have a dramatic impact on my life.

I mostly look at dreams as nothing more than dreams... intriguing, profound, amusing and bizarre, but not much more than that most of the time.

And yet I have dreamed the future more than once. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. One example:

A few years ago, I was moving a surface grinder from a shop across the road from mine. A neighbor was helping with his large forklift. I was walking alongside. As we turned into the alley, I suddenly remembered dreaming the whole scene in exact detail. As I remembered it, I realized that in the dream the grinder had fallen off of the forklift toward where I was walking alongside. I dove out of the way just as the grinder fell over. It would have crushed me.

How does one explain it? For me, I see a spiritual connection. I believe we receive revelation in many ways, with dreams being only one of them. I think there is a danger in looking at all dreams toward trying to predict the future... but I've known enough people who have experienced this in verifiable ways to know it does happen and it is real.

hey, yeah i've had similar dreams, but they are still not right to the point of what is going to happen in the future, sometimes i can solve them after the fact. But i still believe that seing the future is possible or maybe just glimpsing other realities. But other than that i did have a weird cool experience of looking into the future while i was awake. i was riding along in the car with my sister, when suddenly i look out the window and this feeling and imagery of her passing a stop sign and a few moments later she says to me woops i just missed that stop sign. So it was weird because it was not like me thinking about her missing the stop sign, but like the information just came from somewhere else not from me, if that makes anysense? but i think if we open up our minds to other realms we can definetly find world we never believed could possibly exist

I've had both kinds of experiences, precognitive dreams & telepathy (that riding in the car and having a thought enter my mind when my mind was utterly at ease and almost empty.)

Ann Faraday (sp) who wrote one of the most credible books I've read on dream interpretation, "Dream Games," (I think: it's been years) touches on precognition. She daid that her husband seemed to have more of these kinds of dreams when he was at low points or underdog postions in his life. She also mentions waking bolt upright, suddenly, eyes wide open, as being cues to precognitive dreams. Anyone else experienced these things?

Another wonderful author, J. W. Dunne, long, long out-of-print (I think)and long ago deceased, was a WWI aircraft designer and engineer who had no mystic beliefs, but numerous precognitive experiences, attempted to explain the phenomenon. He said that the Western view of Time differed from the Eastern view in that Westerners see Time as linear and Easterners see it as more circular, or as a kind of spiral, I think.
