      Prophetic Dreams/Oneiromancy

I have had several "prophetic" dreams over the years, in which a similar situation I dreamed appears in waking life, or direct situational experiences that happen in my dreams then happen in my life a few days later.

Some examples that I can remember:

In Dream: Boss comes to me worried and upset because the til was off by $40.
In reality: A couple weeks after, my boss comes to me freaking out because the til was off by $40

(Just for reference, I work at a music retail store)
In Dream: Checking new oboe reed stock as it comes in, annoyed at my coworkers for not checking them in themselves, notice one of the few reeds I had ordered was "stripping" at the sides of the reed, making it a "bad oboe reed"
In reality: A few days later, I get new oboe reed stock in and, checking them over, I notice one of the reeds was "stripping" in the exact manner that I was shown in my dream

In one of my 'nightmare' dreams (Check my DJ): While getting out of a haunted house, very large, very hairy spiders surround the door frame of the house.
In reality: A few days later, while baby sitting, I turn to lead the kids out the door and to the bus stop I notice their parents had put up Halloween decorations. One of the decorations was a string of plastic spiders hung around their door frame. The spiders were the same size, same color, and same "hairiness" as the spiders in my dream, except these ones were fake (obviously)

Several instances (though I can't remember exactly) where I am told something or someone says something and that same word or phrase is said just days later in a similar situation with the same inflection and tone as in my dream.

What are your takes on oneiromancy or dream divination? Are my examples "valid" examples of such things?

I would call these dreams precognitive or prophetic which to me does not fall under oneiromancy. Dream Magick as all Magick is fueled by the Will of the Magician. Passively receiving dreams of the future, or seeing the future through your dreams, I'd call seeing, as a seer. Precognition is definitely a psychic/intuitive Gift.

I think you can develop your ability, and have precognitive dreams on purpose. Precognitive dreams may be a warning, or they may be seeing into something mundane, like the fake spiders. I used to think that all precognitive dreams were important, until I had so many about silly boring mundane things, like seeing an acquaintance that has almost no bearing on my life, or noticing a flower on a walk.

      Hi Rojazora,

Oneiromancy is more of an interpretation thing (and then follows the divination attempt).

I think what you experienced is more of a precognition thing. It's more direct and accurate. I would place a higher value upon it :)

Yes, your experiences sound entirely valid. I've had a few of those myself and I think some other people on this forum have as well. But I think it's really cool when it happens and it further validates the more subtle things in life that most people don't see and often scoff at.

Hopefully you can learn to harness your talent both in your dreams and perhaps even divine the future while fully awake. How cool would that be? Dig through the forum to see what you can find out.

If you are able to increase your skills, feel free to come back to this thread and share or feel free to PM me. I'd love to hear about it.

As an aside, "prophetic" generally implies religious connotations but that's probably why you put it in quotes :)

      Good luck!

It seems you gained some very valuable knowledge from those experiences that definitely got you ahead in waking life. You might want to consider starting your own church and claiming the title of prophet ;P

      Unhappy Sad story...

I have had experienced numerous precognitive dreams over the years and have thought nothing of it deeply as it didn't matter to me that much. However, over the last three years dreams of my significant other dying grew increasingly. I dismissed it as nightmares and just told her these dreams just to be on the safe side. Very recently she had gotten very ill and I had decided not to tell her these dreams anymore out of fear it will upset her and possibly jinxing it. Now she has passed away and I'm very much alone. She was the only reason I chose life and not suicide (personal reasons). I was not in a relationship where I found my soulmate and we hit it off, we known each other since we were babies. We grew up as childhood friends. Maybe I should have taken these dreams more seriously and considered the possibility I might have lost her. Turns out she developed a complex medical condition that develops so suddenly and spreads so rapidly it's too late to stop it once it starts. So, in matter of two days she's gone from me, but I have been having these tormenting dreams for years... were these warnings? I don't know.

I keep thinking I should make note of my dreams, but I keep forgetting to. Your dreams kind of remind me on occasion what I experience. Usually it is too mundane to remember in either dream or waking side. I get a since of familiar when I experience it in waking life. I get the feeling I am experiencing something I had in a dream. Sometimes the connection is on a more emotional or mental side.

But dreams of weather and natural disasters, I'm trying to make note of them when I see them. Or even just mundane weather predictions.
One such dream that stood out last year was when I correctly predicted the weather leading up to Christmas last year. What stood out to me was the certainty of the dream as I was dreaming it, that I kept telling everyone I met in the dream about what I experienced. More less it was this: Very cold November, with snow. December mild. Very little to no snow around Christmas but the threat of snow some time around the new year/ beginning of January. As it turned out winter 2014, ended up not very different than that scene in the Midwest at least near MN and WI anyway. There was nothing really serious to this other than some nagging thought both in dream mind and waking mind that I should remember this dream, record it and keep this in mind for some future reason. What that reason is I am still guessing a year later.

      Natural disasters:
An even older dream I was in Australia and my house was flooded. Some time after, I heard a city in Australia had record flooding. It stood out to me because it was a 1 off dream scene in a location I don't really think much about in my waking life. Then to hear in the news about that actually happening, kind of creeped me out.

I've since had dreams time to time about weather happening in various areas (disasters) but haven't looked up the news to see if anything related. I just remember one dream last year I was driving around Utah, trying to flee some storms, tornados and flooding disaster that happened around Oklahoma and the south west. It could have been a symbolic dream with nothing really out of it other than what a normal dream would be.

Then there are some that aren't seeming to be true. A good thing for sure! Shortly after the Japan earthquake, I had a dream of one in Mexico, but haven't seen that happen, but it was supposedly one that was just about as devastating.
