Question Is there a name for this?

So I've always had this thing where when I dream something, it tends to happen. I have chronic insomnia, so when I do dream it's either a nightmare that I hardly remember when I wake up, or it's something extremely vivid that I remember every detail of. Those dreams always end up happening. I might see or do something and it ends up happening whether it's a week or a month later.

But then, it got weirder. My best friend and I work at the same coffee shop and I asked her to pick up a check for me a couple of nights ago. Instead the next day I walked into the coffee shop, weaved behind a shelf to avoid hitting customers, spoke to a coworker who was working at the time (who was asking a question she didn't know the answer to), grabbed my check from the safe, and left. There were three customers, a male and two females. Tonight my friend and I went to a game, in the car afterwards she said, "By the way, I have the check you asked me to get."

I went to tell her she must be mistaken because I already had it when I realized, I never actually went to pick it up I only dreamed that I did. I asked her to recount the things that happened, people in the shop, what our coworker did, and all of it matched my dream. The dream was real, but it was from the perspective of someone else and the day before it happened.

      Any information?

Precognitive dreaming. Not only do we dream to sort through our waking life residue and visit distant memories, we can also dream of the future as the dreamworld is not bound by time in the same way that waking life is. I have often experience this like you seem to experience but for me is usually through a more symbollic nature and of minor mundane things and never experienced it through another's point of view. Though that doesn't surprise me seeing as what dreams are capable of. I also believe that dreams are actually important in the process of creating the future but that is argueable of course.

If you are interesting in find out more about this I suggest you read some of these old threads started by YAD who is very experienced with this. I don't think he is active anymore but you could always try to contact him if you need.

Also he has published a very detailed abstract about this which should answer most of your questions. (I can't seem to be able to open it. Maybe you can)

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

We are not our thoughts. We do not own our thoughts. Thoughts move and flow through the collective conscious, which is why we can even see things through another's eyes sometimes.

I agreed with you until you said the part I made bold. Through logical reasoning based on our current knowledge of how the brain works, you can deduce the first two statements that you made (it's at least one interpretation, anyway). There is no evidence supporting your claims after this point, so it seems a bit silly to posit that information as fact, rather than as a mere possibility. I personally disagree with the claim, although I recognize that it is indeed a possibility. Can I ask you, Nomad, how you came to know the emboldened information as being true/factual? I'm curious what your answer will be.
