Death Dreams
Just in the shower thinking like we all do about stuff, meaning of life etc and then a thought hit me, I was thinking about 2 dreams I have had that I had died in and I started wondering. Is it possible that dreams you die in are a playback of how you died in your past life? Of course not 100% on but adapted to fit your (current) life, example you are with current people you know when you die in dream because you don't remember the person you were with?

I think that is definitely possible. The most well documented and indisputable case of past life memory in America is the story of James Leiniger/James Huston. As a child he would have nightmares almost every day about dying in a WWII plane crash - with complete accuracy, not adapted to his current life. It matched the death story of the man he claimed to have been.
Since dreams are subconscious, it seems that they would have easy access to past life memories. Unfortunately, unless we consciously remember a past life there's no way to know what is a past life, what's just a dream, and what's a little both.
Another thing I've thought about on this topic is: if everyone shares a consciousness, is connected to an infinite source, and/or if this is some type of holographic universe like some theories suggest, then how would we know if a past life memory is our own or if we're just tapping into the universal memory bank?

I believe in reincarnation and have heard that story before, however I do not believe that everybody shares a conscious because that to me just doesn't make sense.

I partly hope not, because I have died in rather unpleasant ways in some of my dreams before.
That said, it certainly could be plausible especially depending on your belief system. Dreams are still widely considered a very mysterious thing to modern science, that and with how little we actually know about the human brain still, it could be feasible that we are tapping into long suppressed memories like lunagoddess was saying. Likewise, however, there is no way to prove this one way or the other unfortunately.
I would say that more often than not that death dreams may be from our own concious interpretation of things. While I don't dismiss the idea of some of them maybe being the result of memories from a previous existence, I just find that it makes more sense (if not, at least be more common) for the mind to try and process what is in the "now" as it were, and draw interpretations from there.
In any case, this topic is very good food for thought. A nice one to ponder for sure.
