Prophecy: Two bull's eyes out of a possible million.

The following thread was originally posted on the IASD forum back in 2009 and moved to Anthony Peake‘s forum, CTF, in 2011 at his request. It documents eight precognitive and spiritual dreams covering a period of six decades. The reason for moving them here is because its two previous homes have either closed or are in the process of closing. Aeronautical engineer, J.W. Dunne, believed we all experience precognitive dreams, but those of a indelible nature and steeped in symbolism seem to transcend this hypothesis. The plan is to bring these over, one at a time, inviting differing opinions and other feedback. The following is the first installment:

1.) The humorist Samuel Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain, once wrote the title words. Despite his sarcasm, Clemens was also the recipient of an amazingly accurate precognitive dream that was mentioned in an early version of his autobiography released after his death. The dream described in great detail to the actual event the tragic death of his brother in a riverboat explosion. Clearly, Clemens acknowledged the existence of precognitive dreams, but never did he presume himself to be in the prophecy business as illustrated in his quotation and subject line of this thread.

In a similar fashion, I have experienced precognitive dreams over the last fifty years, and mine are also a small and humble collection. I rarely remember my dreams, but those of a precognitive or spiritual nature are always unmistakable due to their striking vividness. I put no emphasis on others recalled as they have proven to be of little predictive quality. Also, my precognitive/spiritual dreams always seem to precede a major and/or emotional event in my life concerning family or friends. They never involve the outside world or other disasters.

Several years ago when this website was under a different format, I shared a couple of these phenomena and since that time I have added others to my repertoire. Please keep in mind, I am not talking about a multitude of dreams, but rather a limited and precious ensemble. Although small in number, they have been amazingly accurate and sometimes hair-raising due to their demonic and spiritual nature.

Precognitive dreams, although interesting, are less fascinating to me than that of the revelatory/spiritual kind. As a matter of definition, I classify precognitive dreams as those that play out objectively or very accurately to the dream itself. They contain no symbolic or unworldly concepts requiring interpretation, but rather they are viewed in a real-world manner to unfold with amazing exactitude shortly thereafter. Spiritual dreams, however, involve revelation and are filled with much symbolism requiring interpretation. They can play out over many years. It is my personal belief that dreams of this nature are revealed by our Creator for reasons unexplained. These dreams often contain precognitive facts to help validate them as revelatory. I have one spiritual dream concerning my son which is still unfolding after 27 years. Symbolism in a spiritual dream is often not understood until the event occurs, and then everything fits neatly into place.

I would like to start with my first precognitive dream that happened 50 years ago. It occurred at age 7 and was a very accurate prediction of being burned out of our family home. The dream was viewed with an amazing level of detail to the actual event. In the dream I was in the den watching TV. I heard a muffled explosion come from the kitchen. My father shouted for my oldest brother to get everyone out of the house. I ran into the dining room and looked into the kitchen. There was fire rising up from the top of the table, that was in middle of the floor, and from the counters. The curtains above the sink were also on fire. I remember thinking in the dream, “How could my father let this fire get so out of control?” I ran back through the den and out the front door past my father who was going back into the house. Blocked by the fire, he exited the back door and came around front where he went upstairs to retrieve my 3-year-old sister. My mother was not home at the time. I ran to a big maple tree in front of the house and started to cry when the dream ended.

Approximately two days later in waking life, my father (a carpenter) was putting in Formica counters using contact cement. He had applied the very flammable cement to the counters and to a piece of Formica sitting on the table in the center of the kitchen. He thought a spark from the nylon brush he was using may have ignited the fumes that exploded it the exact same way I had previously dreamt. Every other detail occurred in waking life in the exact manner as described in the above dream. The dream portrayal of the fire, as I looked through the dining room door, was identical to the actual event. The fire was unusual in the way it had rose from the counters and table in the early stages.

2.) The Death of My Father

This dream was both precognitive (literally) and spiritual in that it predicted the death of my father. The meaning was not fully understood until after his death some seven months later.

In the dream I was driving by the high school in the town in which both my parents and I reside in waking life. For some reason, I stopped in front of the school to repair my lawnmower. I needed a particular tool so I walked up the street to my car. As I looked back, I could see a man putting my lawnmower in the back of his station wagon. I yelled but he drove off. I drove my car to a group of people standing nearby and asked if they knew the person who had just driven off. They stated, “Yes, that was Hugh Morgan and he just drove around the back of the school.” His name was unknown to me but I drove my car around back and down the steep hill to the parking lot where it became suddenly dark (possibly symbolic of the grave). I got out and started asking people that I could barely see if they knew where Hugh Morgan went. One person said, “Yes, Hugh Morgan went inside the field house.” I went into the field house where there were many people walking about and asked one if he had seen Hugh Morgan. He stated, “Yes, Hugh Morgan went up there,” pointing to a set of stairs leading to the balcony (symbolic of paradise or heaven), “but no one can go up there.” As I looked over I saw a rope tied across the stairs preventing access. I then went back outside and started looking in the back of several station wagons parked in a long row (symbolic of caskets/hearses) but it was too dark to see anything. Another group was passing by and I asked if anyone knew which car was Hugh Morgan’s. They didn’t and the dream ended there, but Hugh Morgan’s name was mentioned so many times in the dream that it was permanently etched in my mind.

This dream occurred at my summerhouse near the ocean. That morning upon waking I walked down the street to retrieve my state’s most prominent newspaper. Back at the house, and not more than an hour after rising, I was reading the obituaries and saw only one name listed for my hometown, “Hugh Morgan”! Chills went up and down my spine as I wondered whom this person was. I called my parent’s house and my mother answered the phone. They had both been lifelong residents of this same town and I asked my mother if she knew of this Hugh Morgan. She stated, “Oh yes, Hugh was a very religious man that grew up in my neighborhood, and he was with your father over in Iceland during the war.” She went on to say, “He returned home shortly after Dad arrived there. Hugh visited and told me of your father’s harrowing experience during his convoy voyage over.” I had heard the story previously. His convoy was a decoy of ships with skeleton crews and no cargo that was designed to be a distraction for the German U-boats during the invasion of Normandy. They had strict orders not to stop for any ship that may have been torpedoed along the way and many were. My father found God on that voyage and was a devout Catholic for the remainder of his life. I obviously dreamt of Hugh Morgan’s death but why was this man, I never knew, taking something of mine with him?

My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer not long after the dream and died six months later. After his death I recalled the dream and everything fell into place. The dream had several clues about my father that somehow escaped me at the time. The lawnmower represented my father. I had actually lent him a lawnmower in waking life after the sale of my first summer property. I told him that I might want it back if ever I bought another vacation home. I did buy another but I never asked for it back. Also, my father was a union carpenter. One summer, while I was in college and working as an apprentice carpenter, I helped him build this same field house as part of a new addition to the town’s high school. Lastly, my father was a great high school athlete and he graduated from this very same school. About ten years previous to the dream, he was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame and his plaque is on the balcony wall at the top of the stairs that had the rope across it during the dream. I believe this dream predicted the death of my father and that he would go to heaven or paradise with Hugh Morgan.

3.) The Birth of my Son (originally posted 7/1/2009)

This dream unfortunately rates as the most memorable of my lifetime. It was preceded by a precognitive dream the night before and a spiritual dream by my wife a few nights prior to that. I believe it predicted the birth of our son (and his future family) while my wife was pregnant some 27 years ago. The following is the chain of events:

My wife had a dream she was being chased by the devil and he had her cornered. In her dream she was very frightened and could hear me telling her to throw rose pedals at the devil to ward him off. She did this until I woke her due to her loud sleep talking. A few days later I had the following precognitive dream that I told her about at dinner that evening. At the time we knew she was about three months pregnant and this is what I described to her: “In the dream I was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the paper, and you rushed through the back door crying hysterically. You told me you were bleeding heavily and feared you were having another miscarriage.”

That evening my wife went shopping in waking life and while I was sitting at the table, reading the paper about 9:00 PM, she came through the back door crying exactly as I had dreamt it and described to her earlier that night. She was bleeding heavily and we went to the emergency room in an attempt to save her pregnancy. I had the following spiritual dream/nightmare the very next night:

My wife and I were riding a horse and buggy with a young girl that we were taking back to her parents. We pulled up to a large, two-story granite building. All the windows of the building were bricked up except for an opening that appeared as a cross/crucifix in each window. We met her parents outside and they invited us in. When we entered, we came into a large hall/library with books from the floor to the second story ceiling. These leather-bound books were very old and approximately 3 feet tall. The light coming in from the partial windows created a series of crosses that cascaded across the wall of the library. It was my impression that all the knowledge of the world was contained in this one room. At that moment, the father said to his family, “They’re coming! Quick, everyone take their places!” As they scattered in different directions, my wife and I were just observers of what was happening. The father stepped into a large, round, curio-like cabinet made mostly of glass. He sat down and then seemed to go into a meditative trance. There was a light in the cabinet that shined on his face, which had a very peaceful countenance. At that moment, a man with a gun came around the corner. His face was distorted with a grotesque look of rage/hate as he fired into the glass cabinet. Glass was flying everywhere but the man inside continued sleeping completely untouched by the bullets. The demon departed and the father suddenly awoke, exiting the cabinet. He said, “Please, come with me because they will be back shortly.” We went up a set of stairs to the second floor. My wife and I were still just observers as we saw him along with his wife and two children huddle in a nearby room. There was a large, ornate candle (3’ tall, possibly symbolic of Christ) in the middle of the doorway leading to the room in which they were standing. We were watching from outside the room and the light from the candle partially lit the room creating their silhouettes on the wall. The couple had an older son and the younger daughter that we had returned. The father was dressed in a suit and it was my impression that he was someone of importance (not realizing he was my unborn son). At that moment, I turned to see a demon dressed as the grim reaper. He had on a black hooded robe with a black plastic face and eyes covered over in black plastic as well. It was clear that he could not pass the candle but he had a bow and arrow that he started to raise it in an attempt to fire into the room. At that moment, I screamed “NO!” and grabbed him by the face, which felt cold. The demon seemed as light as a feather and I only felt the weight of his plastic face and clothing that I hurled down the stairs. He started coming back up the stairs but now he had several others following him. I yelled for my wife to help me barricade the steps with some nearby boxes. As this did nothing to slow their advance, I suddenly thought to form the sign of the cross with my arms and started shouting, “Down with ye Satin,” several times until they began to cower back down the stairs. My wife then woke me.

In waking life, my wife went on to deliver our second son six months later by cesarean section. The doctor explained our son was quite the survivor. Apparently, the placenta had divided into several pieces and there was a network of vessels attaching the different segments to the main lobe (placenta succenturiate). There were also two other complications (placenta previa and accreta). It was later that I realized my dream was about my grown son yet to be born. We did not know the baby’s gender until he arrived. The glass curio cabinet represented the womb where he slept unaffected by the shattering glass/divided placenta. I believe the image of him, huddled in the room with his family, is possibly he in the future. The dream may have been a promise from God that he would survive my wife’s difficult pregnancy, and other serious life challenges. While growing up my son was a happy-go-lucky kid that achieved National Honor Society in high school and later went on to a notable college to receive his degree in engineering three years ago. He seemed to be on autopilot until shortly after graduation when he came to my wife and I and told us he had a drug addiction. His recovery is ongoing and encouraging as he continues to hold a fulltime position at a prestigious engineering firm. Unfortunately, this dream/nightmare has become all too true and we only hope and pray for the happy ending it predicted 27 years ago.

The following dream occurred over 30 years ago and was documented on the IASD forum back in 2009. As you will read in its first paragraph, I didn't think it was related to a major episode in life, but now feel differently. This opinion changed due to its coupling with two additional follow-up dreams occurring more recently. All will be explained later in the thread.

4.) The Lottery

Contrary to information given in my first posting, this precognitive dream was not related to a major and/or emotional event within my lifetime. It is the only exception I can recall. In the dream my wife and I were watching the daily lottery number being drawn on TV. In my state, this is a live nightly occurrence where 4 tumblers spin to derive the 4 digit daily number. The number came out and my wife stated, “Isn’t that your new telephone number?” and I replied, “No, but almost.” In the dream I didn’t see the number, but the conversation was very vivid.

The next day I went out and spent a total of 3 dollars on different versions of my new phone number (First 3, last 3, and all 4, exact order. First 3, last 3, and all 4, any order). I rarely play the lottery because my waking intuition has proven to be nonexistent over the years. I briefly mentioned the dream to my wife and asked if she wanted to go partners. She agreed but didn’t ask for any of the specifics. That night we made a point to watch and as the numbers came out she stated, “Isn’t that your new telephone number?” and I replied “No, but almost; the last two numbers are reversed.” My wife then said, “I guess we didn’t win because you don’t seem too happy.” And I replied, “Yes, we did win, but we could have won a lot more if I wasn’t so cheap!” We ended up making $150.00 (all 4 and last 3, any order).

5.) Death of a Close Friend (originally posted on IASD forum in 2009)

This spiritual dream concerns the death of a close friend. My friend and I went to high school together. Once graduating he went into the service and I left for college. After his honorable discharge he took advantage of the GI bill and went on to receive a degree from a major university. He then launched a successful career in real estate where he owned his own business. Our families often socialized, going on many vacations together over the years. As our kids grew older we drifted apart but still remained good friends. At approximately 45 years of age, my friend’s life took an unfortunate turn. He had an affair with a woman and started drinking heavily. He then left his loyal wife of 25 years and moved in with his girlfriend. His life continued to spiral out of control when fate again took its toll. His wife, and other dear friend of ours, died in a car accident. My friend was left guilt ridden and despondent, as I believe it was his hope they would eventually reconcile. We had long since stopped socializing but I was still hearing reports of his continuing alcohol related problems. He had been arrested several times for DUI and finally received a 6-month jail sentence. Shortly before this his only surviving parent died and he inherited a sizable estate. The disposition of this property would now have to wait until his release, and after several months had passed I had the following dream:

I dreamt of walking down a street in our hometown when I looked down and saw a rectangular hole in the pavement. It appeared to have a dimension of approximately 2 feet by 7 or 8 inches, and had a metal edge that I assumed would support a cover. In this shallow hole I saw a wallet and at that same moment two women were also approaching. I asked them to stop and act as witnesses to help determine the wallet’s owner. Reaching in, I pulled out the wallet and then began to search for an identity. The first thing I found was a picture of a local landmark. I then stated to the women, “This person must be from our community because here is a picture of the rockery located downtown.”

The dream ended here and it was unusually vivid. I had no clue as to its meaning. A few months had passed and we received the following tragic news. My friend was found dead in the house he had inherited. Apparently, he was released from prison early and went to the home without anyone’s knowledge. He was found dead on a couch and unrecognizable because he had been there unnoticed for possibly two months. Upon learning this I then remembered the dream and applied the following interpretation: I had the dream after he had died. He was now dead but no one knew it. The rectangular hole was symbolic of the grave and I reached into it seeking his/dead person’s identity. The two women I believe represented his predeceased mother and wife. The rockery offered other clues as it is home for the statue of a soldier and my friend’s office window was in view of this site for many years. The fact I could not make out his identity immediately is probably correlated to the similar process his finders went through.

6.) Pennies from Heaven: Our First Grandchild (originally posted Nov. 23, 2010)

Last January, I had a dream of driving way up north to a gift shop located near my brother’s summer home. I was returning a small key chain, presumably purchased when previously there. While standing at the cash register with the husband and wife storeowners, I told them my interest in returning the item. I explained it had only cost me a couple of dollars and hoped it wouldn‘t be an issue to return it. The wife opened the cash register and handed me a pouch filled with shiny pennies. I said it seemed about right and thanked her. I turned to check out the store a second time and noticed it looked very much like my grandmother’s old antique shop; however, the appearance now seemed stunningly more beautiful, almost magical. I then saw a young woman in her twenties holding a baby wrapped in a blanket, and she laid the baby on an ornate chair that looked exactly like the one in my mother’s living room in real life. My mother had inherited the chair from her mother. The woman then walked away and I assumed she must work in the shop, which had a very warm, euphoric feeling (heaven) and very pleasant shopkeepers.

My mother awakened me from this dream at 6:15 AM. She rarely calls this early unless it’s very important. Oddly though, she simply asked if we still had the receipt to a sweater we had given her as one of her Christmas presents. My mother mentioned she would like to return it, so I said we would look and get back to her. After the call, I thought about the precognitive tie-in to the sweater and the key chain in the above dream. Both were items that needed to be returned, and as mentioned earlier in this thread, this type of literal, precognitive connection can sometimes be a tip-off to a symbolic/spiritual dream predicting a more significant event. For me, the connotation of “up north” and “shiny pennies” (pennies from heaven), coupled with the “euphoric feeling” while there, all had my wife and I hoping for a heavenly message of joy. Our optimistic interpretation was that my oldest son and his wife would announce her pregnancy, and our first grandchild, based on the symbolism of the baby being placed on my grandmother‘s chair (family bloodline). However, month after month passed leading us to believe that this very vivid dream was of little consequence. Then, about a month ago, we had our son and daughter-in-law over for Chinese food. After the meal, my son passed me a fortune cookie that I opened and read aloud. It stated, “Pennies from Heaven will visit you before year‘s end.” This caused my wife and I to break out into a hearty laugh, inviting the kids to ask what we were up to. I responded with, “I think God has a sense of humor,” and left it at that. So, for the last month my wife has been saying, “We’re running out of time and still no news,” and to the best of our knowledge, they weren’t even trying to conceive. Then this last weekend my son called to tell us they were coming to visit Monday night. When they arrived I was holding a camera in anticipation. When they asked about it I stated, “The camera is in case you have any special news to tell us,” prompting a, “How did you know???” This was followed by lots of hugs and tears of joy.
