Thread: Shared Dream Experiment?

Sweet, I had success! Well, I don't think I saw any of you in the dream but I did dream about Gyeongbokgung palace. Here is my dream journal entry.

did you do a lot of research before you had that dream? You seem to identify the actual guards pretty accurately , except that I don't think they carried swords. But they routinely march around the entrance to the area, and they wear many different colors of bright clothing.

I might go back and edit parts of the dream to describe people more accurately if I can remember what they looked like, since I suppose some of them could have been one of you.

Edit - If it helps, and we do use Gyeongbokgung palace as our main meeting place, I might try to find a map of the area and explain some sights later on, so we can pick more exact meeting places and make sure we all end up at the palace.

I didn't do any research beforehand as I like to be surprised. Sure enough, I was surprised to learn after the dream when looking for images that guards actually wore clothes like that.

Good idea to make an attempt during the evening. I didn't know whether I should have made an attempt on Saturday night my time or last night but curious about whether you guys would give it a go, I made a small attempt of my own. Doubt my experience was as good as yours but I'm excited to read it. I'm unsure if I should read it now or not though because It felt more like I was outside the palace.

^w^ Its great that you two were able to make it to the palace~ Were off to a good start. The guards are kind of like a spoiler to me but it does give me a better idea of how the palace is like. It would definitely be helpful to describe specific meeting spots.

Edit- After reading your comment lucidbunnie, perhaps one specifically small described spot would be good so that we can still have surprises but know where were headed?what do you guys think?

In hindsight it's probably a good idea for us to be familiar with the experiment locations. This experiment is about shared dream afterall and not our ability to gather unknown information itself. We should probably get familiar with general layout of the palace and agree to meet at a specific location. The "test" for us would be to recognize others and whatever symbol or information they are projecting. I'm going to go familiarize myself with the palace so it'll help me next time. ^^

Okay. : ) I like the thought of gathering unknown info but your right. Since were focusing on meeting each other let's learn about the place more before our next attempt.

That is pretty amazing. This is starting to give me faith in the shared dream thing.

I would love to try out but the last months my lucidity has slipped and my recall has gotten worse.

Its okay. Perhaps being in the group will help motivate you and build your recall. As we progress you'll have more to write down.
What is your timezone?

I'm also wondering If everyone in the group has a good idea of when to make their first attempt. Knowing that we all have different time zones may make things confusing but perhaps if we decide on timing together it'll help. I plan on making my next attempt at 9pm tonight.

Here, I have an idea. Let's use this map to coordinate the time. Whenever we agree to meet in dreams we can make an "appointment" in Coordinated Universal Time and just find our time zone from there. It will be difficult to do, as we all have different REM periods and some of us will be working/going to school at certain times that are best for others, but at least this way we can try to get some of us sleeping at the same time.

Thanks for finding this map Jewl~ It will help keep us organized which makes me feel better about the timing.

I tried again Sunday evening. I did get into a lucid dream, but my SO's DC didn't want me to go and wanted us to continue playing a game we were playing before I became lucid. She didn't want to come along either. I didn't want to choose between the two, so I stayed with her. I'll try again next weekend. ^^

unfortunately im having a super busy weekend, did wbtb 2 nights but im a Little too stressed at the moment, closest thing too anything remotely asian i dreamt about was a choclate cake with Word Cherry on it. (as in Cherry Blossoms) :-) oh well maybe next weekend?

Don't know if I'll find the palace. My lucids are so basic. The only kind of teleportation I'm good at is walking intending to change the scenery. I could perhaps look for someone if I become lucid. Someone who's lucid often could look for me, and see if I remember.

my suggestion is to pick a different dreaming location every once in a while.

You should have more confidence in your dream control. Its true that there are dreams where you have more control than others but if you doubt, you might not give yourself the chance to see it. Watching a video of the palace might help influence a dream about it. But i suppose someone could try finding you too. Sure, we can choose different locations once in a while. Maybe the next location can be one that is easier or familiar to you.what places would you suggest?

Sharing dreams isn't possible. Try all you want but without a machine that can make that available for you, you cant do it. End of the story.

Oh and about the machine, is that a real thing? I think I remember they used one on inception... that would be super cool if someone could make one.

I know your asking shado but there’s no machine that can do that yet.I read about something being created in Japan to determine what a person is dreaming about. Which is equally amazing.^^ Don’t know what is their progress now though.

Wow, that is incredible. The brain is so complicated, I feel like any way to monitor it is a huge stepping stone for humanity.

I hope you didn't mention it because I don't remember so that would make me a bad listener.

Sure with the right tech it can act as a bridge and take away the "maybe" from the equation. However, we are a long way from creating a dream network like that with hardware so we'll have to depend on existing hardware and software that is our brain and it's faculties.

Sadly it seems like ShadoWalker's knowledge of lucid dreaming comes from the movie Inception. I really wish an actual lucid dreamer was part of overseeing the script during production. I find it a bit irksome when people bring up Inception movie. It's inaccurate and the dream within a dream concept is a bit childish to a seasoned lucid dreamer. ^^'

Anyway, this is a Shared Dream Experiment. There have been various accounts of shared dream experiences including my own experiences with my SO, we are just experimenting to see if shared dreaming is possible in a large scale with mostly strangers. Everyone is welcome to join the experiment. This is not a debate to discuss if it's real or not, it's an experiment to see if it's doable or not.

I liked inception, even if the story line was unrealistic it brought alot of attention too Lucid Dreaming, people will have too read books and understand themselves but ok. I liked the bit were the girl is bending the Environment, and also i like the idea that there are different levels too dreaming. Like some Dreams for me seem like they go on for months and i Wake like i came home from vacation.
The easiest is too have shared Dreams with people you live with and do the same stuff as you every day, but its not impossible too have shared Dreams with strangers i Think , but probably easier with people you will meet someday, like if i plan a vacation to a specific destination, and visit it in my Dreams, and alot of stuff will be similar, and people i meet might be the same.

I used to love the movie when it came out, it's just that some people think lucid dreams = dream within a dream. Some mix up lucid dreaming with the plot of the movie i.e. inception. That made me somewhat dislike the movie and i got nitpicky with it's inaccuracies as it became hard to reteach others. XD

Anyway, i'm not saying concept of dream within a dream is impossible. Anything may be possible. ^~^

Okay, so I know we might meet other places as well but I found a good map of the palace.

We could meet anywhere around here, but the places that have the most vivid memories for me are:

at #1: The entrance to the area. This is where my dream and maybe lucidbunnie's dream took place. There is a building to buy tickets (usually 1000 won or about 1 dollar for minors and 2000 won or about 2 dollars for adults for entrance, if I remember correctly), but for the most part it is an empty courtyard.

On the bottom left corner of the map: a museum. There is some cool stuff there as well. There are different museum buildings but this one I remember the outside structure best.

at #2: I guess you could call this the throne room, there is another courtyard with a structure on top of a bunch of steps where the King used to sit. The throne itself is pretty fancy and there is a cool dragon statue decorating the ceiling.

at #12: I don't know what this is called, I just call it the pond. Really pretty place. Also I remember it well because it was one of the first times I recognized Korean swear words, lol.

at #14: I don't know if people lived in these places or what but there are a bunch of walls with rooms here and as far as I remember nothing really inside them. I just call them the rooms.
