      Shared Dream Experiment?

I've decided to make a thread here because the one on deep dreaming might not get much views. I'm wondering if anyone wants to try a shared dreaming experiment again but this time trying to get the other person to dream about an unknown object or main idea that would make up the dream scenario. In a way i guess this is similar to remote viewing. There use to be active remote viewing thread when i was new on dream views. It was basically a person trying to figure out what the unknown object in someones house was through a dream or astral projection.Dont remember how successful they were though. If not we could also attempt to share dream as a group through the same old "dream meet" scenario.

I only had shared dream experiences with my SO. We were getting incredible results to the point it was as if we were experiencing the same dream but interpreted by our own brains. Sort of like how an online game that's hosted on a server is rendered on the client-side using client system software and hardware i.e. in our case the brain. Only here the client side software is not provided by the host i.e. not the same graphics, sounds etc. So brain would fill in with the closest substitute. However, since my SO and I had the same life experiences and lifestyle we experienced things pretty accurately. Sometimes our meet ups were independent of time. For example, my journal for a Tuesday dream will match up with my SO's notes on another day. It was sort of confusing, but we were making progress.

Anyway, back to the topic. I'm up for the experiment, but a bit uncertain how to go about this experiment. ^^

This sounds super fun! I have tried experimenting with shared dreaming before, but it never really worked out. There were occasions where I would see the person I wanted to have a shared dream with, but that person either never saw me or didn't remember any such dream. I have never really had someone else's dreams match up with mine, either, but there were plenty of times where my brother and I would have similar dreams as we spent a lot of time together and sometimes had very similar interests. For example we would both dream about our favorite tv show, etc.

I don't know a lot about the whole shared dreaming thing, but I am willing to try it out! As for the "dream meet" scenario, it would be awesome to meet people on dreamviews.

^w^ Wow, it's sweet that you were able to have shared experiences with your SO. The game was a good example. Reminds me of when a friend told me I had poor graphics or something which made me want to buy a gaming computer. Having the same lifestyle works in your favor, especially when it comes to timing and communication. I'm curious to why you think the dreams happened at different days. I haven't really thought of different time shared dreams much but I do remember reading about the possibility before. Glad to know your willing to join in on the experiment lucidbunnie~ Hmm, I've been on a shared dream group before, not as the leader so not really sure either but we could start with Jewl's idea to meet on dream views and seeing what happens.

Its cool to know your interested in shared dreams too Jewl~Even if it didn't work out. Having similar interests and spending time together could influence you to have similar dreams. The type of shared dreaming I want to test out is more like dream telepathy though. However, dreaming of each other's favorite show is still fun to do. Reminds me of when I use to do that with my cousin but we'd plan it to happen in our lucid dreams. Yay~ I'm glad you want to join in too. It would be awesome if we tried to meet on dream views.

When do you guys want to make the attempt? I think I have to refresh my memory on how my past shared dream group went about it but i recall we tried things related to astral projection and even made a persistent world to meet up at a lucid dream. If windhover was here she could explain it better than me but the end goal is the same. To put intent to having a shared dream and try to meet each other at the meeting place.

Well, what I meant to say was it would be awesome to meet the people whom I know from dream views. I guess I could have worded that better . But actually that is a great idea. To meet in a way that is familiar to all of us.

I am not the best at this, so maybe someone else should suggest when to try it out.

The persistent world thing sounds the coolest, although I only have two "persistent" worlds and one of them I haven't been to in 2 years. But yeah let's agree to meet either some place we create or some place we all know.

That happened us so much! We just put it down to us watching series, movies etc. together all the time.

We actually talked about it back then and came to the conclusion that maybe dreams are not affected by time in the same way it is here. We thought that since shared dream experience goes beyond just our own perception it could probably span across different points of what we perceive as time. It sort of makes sense. If time is a physical concept there is no reason why it should affect dreams. But the sciencey part of me wants to question that sort of thinking simply because in order for that to be true we have to first assume dreams as abstract non-physical realities and not something just in our heads. Perhaps, as more people experience shared dream experiences it'll become more clear. ^^

Perhaps, we can put up a poll or something like that and try to meet up in a time that's most requested? Sure there is no way to ensure we'll get lucid exactly at that specific date and time, but it's sort of like a guideline for us to try. As for persistent worlds, I don't have much success with a creating persistent worlds yet. Only persistent realities I been to are those that show up in my non-lucid dreams and the ones the hyperconsious entity who may or may not be my SO takes me sometimes. I think I remember about a shared dream thread from while back where people talked about meeting up at Pyramid of Giza, maybe we can choose a location like that and a persistent dream reality will form on it's own when several people try to go there?

Ohhh Sorry I misunderstood. I agree that it would be cool though, especially since we are all interested in the topic of dreams. It's okay if you are unsure about timing. Creating two persistent worlds is amazing~ I only ever created one by myself, the other was in the iosdp group. What are your persistent worlds like? I'm good with either meeting place as well. What do you think about the pyramid of Giza. Not really a place I know but we could look at a picture and test it out.

Hmm...I feel like I understand part of what your saying but not the whole thing. What did you mean by "abstract non physical realities and not something just in our heads"? Yeah, we don't know much but eventually people will understand/uncover the truth.

Good idea. I don't know if I can put a poll up now though. It's fine if your not use to creating persistent worlds, at first its about imagination, than overtime you start to recognize where things are and it becomes like a stable place eventually. Even if not perfect all the time. Having been in persistent places I'm sure you understand how it is. What kind of persistent place would you go to? Pyramid of Giza!? Haven't heard of that meet up place but that sounds like it'd be cool too. Makes me think I might run into a pharaoh.XD Yeah, lets give it a try.

Okay, I finished creating the poll.

I never went to Pyramid of Giza, just seen some photos. Other places we can consider are these. I haven't went to any of the places on the list, maybe we'll choose a place that's most popular. Just because Pyramid of Giza was in an old shared dream meet up doesn't mean we have to repeat it. I'm a bit indecisive when it comes to choosing stuff. ^^'

As for the poll, I went with weekends so most people won't have school or work. To me it's same any day though.

Oh okay. I remember seeing this list before. A lot of good choices here. I haven't been to any in WL either. Been to a few in my dreams. I still feel like going to the pyramid of giza but the lake national park, great blue hole, highlands and stone henge caught my attention too.

I think the weekends are the best dates too. I chose monday as well but after seeing Tuesday chosen i think it would be better than monday. ^^ Do you guys want to try it this Saturday or should we start on another day?

I voted for 4 days. right now Tuesdays and Thursdays are best because I'm not too busy in the morning, but in about a month classes will end and I will have to get a job, so my schedule will change a lot and Saturday and Sunday are the best days for dreaming. I'm talking mornings, not nights. But I can do pretty much any day.

The Pyramid of Giza sounds cool. I am fine with anywhere we decide to meet, but if we are going for famous places, one famous place comes to mind that I have actually been to, the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Korea. Here is a wikipedia page with pictures, and description too but it's in Korean. Most of the pictures are at the bottom. In both of the countries I've lived in there are plenty of cool mountains I've been to as well. Is there any place in the world we have all been to? Probably not, but if there is then we could get a pretty clear representation in the dream I would imagine.

What are your persistent worlds like?
Uh, well, I would probably derail this thread if I went into much detail, . But the one was kind of like a linear storyline, not really a world, that continued over the course of about 10 dreams. That is the one I haven't been to in two years. It was in the world of Avatar: TLA, and I started off on my own story and eventually met up with the main characters of the series and joined them, altering the story of the show just a bit.

The other one is more of a persistent world in that I can do whatever I want, and it is kind of like living another life. It's like an entirely different world that only exists in my mind. I might end up putting one of these dreams in a dream journal, and have to put in a lot of background information first. The gist of it is that I it started out as a Narnia-esque false awakening WILD, and I walked through a door and found myself in the middle of a forest. After walking around a bit someone found me a took me to a nearby city. There is a lot of stuff that happens but that is the basic idea.

Edit - I just saw your post, haha. I am fine to start this weekend but maybe lucidbunnie should pick the specific time since she said she has an irregular sleeping pattern.

Alright, that's understandable. Classes end for me in like a month too. So i think saturday, sunday and Tuesday for now will be manageable.

Oo~ I like the architecture. The mountains would be great to explore too. I don't think we've been to the same places either. Havent been to much popular or historical places even though I've traveled before so I'm at a loss.

Hehe Its fine. I dont mind. Avatar was a really good show. It must have been fun to dream about the characters and story continuously. Hopefully you didnt run into too much fire benders though. The other persistent world is interesting too. I feel like i only got a glimpse of what it is like but i like the way it sounds so far.

So I guess we'll try Pyramid of Giza and Gyeongbokgung Palace first. But we have to choose a primary location to focus on. We can switch up meeting places later on and keep it interesting by updating on this thread to include current agreed upon days and location. I think posts can't be edited after a while so might have to set things up in a reply, not sure.

My sleep pattern is a problem, but I can sort of force myself to go to sleep any day on time when I take melatonin and anxiety meds together. My doctor had told me not to do it very often. But this sort of for science and future of dreaming... so it's worth it. ^^'

I'm from South Asia, I don't think most people here are from my timezone. So lets go with a time that's more suitable for you guys. My sleep timing will be sorta forced during these meet ups anyway.

I hope the lurkers also participate and not just 3 of us. The more people the better. ^^

Based on my own experience with my SO, no, but it's a bit of a gray area. There is very little research when it comes to shared dreaming itself to begin with. It might be better to align the times a bit at the beginning.

hi, sounds like fun i would love too try, even if my lucid ability is not perfected at the moment. If I could visit in a normal Dream would it be of any interest?

how About this for an experiment lets say under one week time, if you decided on pyramids for destination, each participant would choose one symbol without telling the rest of Group, lets say i choose a scorpion, and during this week i will be focusing on a scorpion, when i am awake i will be thinking about scorpion, maybe draw one and hang it on wall. if i Dream i will try draw a scorpion on wall in pyramids, or tell dcs about it. and at the same time i will be Writing in my Dream journal all stuff in Dream im seeing and about and at the end of the week we could compare Dream journals, maybe we wouldn't read eachothers Dream journals Before end of week.

Let's go with Gyeongbokgung Palace as the primary location than. Since Jewl has actually been there it would be of benefit to our experiment.

I appreciate your determination lucidbunnie but your health comes first. Dont take it often because for all we know the experiment could not work and you could be affecting your health for nothing. Anyways time shouldn't be a problem. Just sleep when you feel ready. I'm willing to take a nap sat or sunday if you wanna try at the same time too.

South Asia. Nice~ I'm in the U.S Eastern timezone. I agree and it looks like more are joining in now~ ^w^

Hey Oneironautics~ Its great to have you and Charles join the group experiment.Don't worry about lucidity. Even non lucid dreams could have syncs within them so we shouldn't take them for granted when experimenting.

That's a good idea but if everyone chooses a symbol wouldn't it make it more likely for a symbol to be found? Drawing it could be helpful and speaking to dcs/drawing it on a pyramid could definetly stick out. Putting attention to shared dreaming every night doesnt seem possible though, it could make it seem almost like a chore too but i can see it happening if we do it saturday to sunday and maybe tueday if you can. What kind of days are available to you guys?

      Also, what is everyones timezones?

my thought was that everyone would choose thier own symbol too focus on day or night, for example if i had a a scorpion bracelet every time i would look at it i would try and visualize it on pyramid, which would help with Dream incubating also. And at the same time when i would be dreaming i would also looking around for other symbols maybe i see a snake in every Dream and would try and focus on what snake is trying too 'say' which would be why it would be preferable for me too last a few more Days so you have a few more chances. :-) .

Then again i live in Sweden so my timezone is probably way different then everybody elses :-)

Okay, lets try that than. Since i think we're doing the Gyeongbokgung Palace what symbol is everyone choosing? Its okay if your timezone is different. We could experiment with dreaming at different times.: ) i think when its 2am for you its 8pm for me. So it could still work.

I think oneironautics is trying to say that we can individually project a symbol of some sort into the dream and if it's a shared dream then it might start showing up in other's dream and will become clear when we check dream journal notes later on. In that sense we don't have to mention the specific symbol or information we are projecting into the dream in advance. Of course, I could could have misunderstood. ^^'

Ah, so like even if we aren't in the dream at the same time we will notice that one of us was there when we check the dream journals? Innovative. I like the idea.

yes i was thinking we didn't tell each other the symbol till afterwards and then see if anyone had one of the others symbols in there own Dream without previously knowing

I'm interested in this idea of an experiment. I have TAFE on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but I am good for the other mornings. Australia = different timezone.
