Has anyone of you experimented with time manipulation? Like changing any past events? Please share your experiences.
I had an experience today that I felt like sharing. I have been pretty down with the anniversary of my SO, Kana, passing away come and gone. I have one of my emotional breakdowns and cry myself to sleep. Pretty common for me when I'm out of my antidepressants. I had this dream: Alternate Timeline (time-dilated dream). I'm not sure what to make of it.

I had a dream in October 2015 it was a "hit" to M"s Lucid challenge of jumping into a black whole.
Over the days, months, and 2 years since that dream,
an inner story has evolved.
Folks my end (Adelaide, South Australia) tell me
to write it all down as a fiction

Originally I suicided in 2008 ������

because it is 10 years ago
that I originally completed suicide.
Now, if I make it to my 87th BIRTHDAY
S/he gets extra credit.
I chatted privately back and forth with somebody about time dilation a while ago, but they didn't want to share their experiences in public... So I don't feel like it's my place to go into it. What that person described was very different from your dream though. It was more of about techniques to deliberately cause time dilation in a lucid dream.
Your dream sounds more like a lucid version of the long dreams that people have spontaneously. Pretty incredible... The mind is a crazy place.
I should be working on an assignment that is due in less than two hours... but these experiences really call to question our understanding of things. Is it really time "dilation" or is this more easily explained if we simplify things? If we stop pretending like we understand the brain and let go of the notion that everything has to be understood in the light of this impossible to understand biological object, it makes more sense.
Your own brain is unobservable directly. It could be anything or nothing at all. Even if you pick it out and hold it infront of your face you have no choice but to process your brain through itself. It seems to me that a more reasonable perspective on the brain would be to see it as as a symbol arising in the dream that is life... a symbol representing the center or source of your dream. It has to be a symbol to be observable... for the same reason you can't see your own eye, or point at your fingertip.
So then is time dilated... or is that a unneccessary complication? What if it's just a matter of cycles...a habit arises, a cycle between day and night, dream and life, and it is possible to make the "night part of the cycle" last longer. Does your body and brain really exist in your bed while you are dreaming? Or is that just a conceptual narrative?

That’s quite a dream. Sounds like you’ve been through some pretty trying stuff—the longer I spend around people who are interested in dreams, and the more stories I hear, the more I begin to wonder just how many of us have. Hope you’re doing OK.
Weird time stuff is pretty common in my dreams, but it’s more something that happens than something I experiment with. What happens most often is that, in non-lucid dreams, I’m using memories of the future--sometimes of various alternate futures—to decide what to do in my current situation. These are accurate within the context of the dream, but the dream setting has never resembled waking reality much, and so it’s not clear on the surface how it relates to my own life.
Except for one time—I don’t know how to describe it except that it was as if, partway between sleep and waking, I was streaming an enormous number of possible scenarios through my mind, one after another, and I reached the conclusion that making a certain life decision a certain way would have very bad consequences for me. Generally, I think it’s best to leave the question of whether a dream experience was somehow real up in the air, but that was the one time in a hundred where I actually did have to decide.
Honestly, I don’t know if the idea of alternate timelines is comforting or not, or true or not. If I were to take my own dreams at face value, I’d have to conclude that all the possible alternatives exist already in some fashion, past and future, regardless of my choices. But also that it’s still possible to guide myself towards more positive futures.
I set off too little time for my assignment and didn't have time to explain my calculations... fingers crossed for a kind person evaluating it, if I fail this I won't get to take the exam:shock:
About alternate timelines... It seems our most available access to them is through dreams. But I wonder if there is a sort of catch 22 making it difficult to do deliberately.
Say I am lucid and am invited by some DC into a dream or alternate reality where I will stay for 80 years, I go in and find a world that is completely lifelike in every way imaginable... It's still just a dream, isn't it? I would think so...because that's the narrative I would be holding...I still believe I am in my bed at home... It was my dreambody that went in.... But if I then, after 40 years, bumped my head in the dream and forgot about how I got there... Is it still a dream then or is it life?
If, as many accounts state, it is possible to experience lifetimes as real as anything during a single nights sleep, I would think it natural to assume that the difference between life and dream are differences in narrative... The people who report lifetimes in dreams were not lucid. The life in which they were sound asleep was not part of the narrative...and so they belonged in the dream. I remember a story of a man getting married and having children. But after many years, he felt something was off about a lamp... he sat for days staring at this lamp, trying to figure out what was wrong about it, until one day he became lucid.The world fell apart and he woke up back in our world yearning for his loved ones.
We all know the power of expectation in dreams. And is expectation not a relative of narrative?
Imagine that I fall asleep and after a chaotic dream find myself lucid, faced with a beautiful, awe inspiring Godess beyond description. She has a power that makes me feel like she is a being of perfect love, it doesn't even cross my mind that something like her could wishto deceive me. Yet she lies and tells me I have unfortunately died in my sleep. I will now be sent into the womb of a woman to be born again as a new person, but! I get to keep my memories....
Now... This is all just a lucid dream, and the "womb" I am sent into is really just the same empty black void we often experience in LDs, and out of which we call forth a dreamscape. But I am not exactly lucid... I fully believe the narrative I was fed... What would happen? Am I in a dream? Is it unstable and do my thoughts affect the surroundings? Or does a real world take shape around my new infant body?
The idea I'm getting at is a problem with deliberately creating an alternate timeline through dreams... it could be that it has to arise as a natural and convincing continuation of the narrative, or start with a wiped out memory. If your narrative says it's not real life then it's hard for me to imagine how it could be. When something is not real... it's not tied down... it doesn't hold the gravity of something we know to be reality... it's the dream world.

I have had dreams where I go back in time and avoid saying something embarrassing, or go down a different path when making important choices in my life, but none that seemed so realistic as you described. I have dreamed of what my life would be like if I never lived in Korea, and that dream lasted quite a while and I have dreamed of similar things many times, but I don't think I have changed anything as life-changing as saving a loved one. Not that I really could, the family members I have that died were well on their way and nothing really could be done. I suppose I could make the last few years of my grandmother's life better; I hear she was treated poorly at the care center before she died. :(
I have a friend that I worked a bit with in Korea who used to get really deep into meditation, hypnosis, and lucid dreaming. He had a pretty difficult life, got in trouble sometimes and had seen some really bad stuff, and he had created an alternate reality where he was happy. Eventually he said he had to stop because he liked that reality more than this one, and he realized he didn't want to leave anymore. I don't know what inspired him to leave his world altogether, but now he is pretty happy, lives a good and safe life with lots of friends.
Something that this makes me think about, though: does it make it any less of a reality if these dreams come from you, from some sort of cosmic link between worlds, or divine intervention? I would say that even if the dream was just a dream created in your mind with no outside help it is still a reality. So yes, I think you experienced a changing of past events and an alternate reality.
