      Why not organize dreaming retreats?

There are hundreds of active participants on this website, we could do a bit fundraising and organize a retreat or two in countries where most of the participants live. I would certainly not mind traveling somewhere to join such a retreat even if it meant traveling to another country.

Or am I missing something? Maybe there are some retreats that you participate in, if so, please share the information

Honestly I've always wanted to attend the International Association for the Study of Dreams Convention. Before Covid I know they hosted it in Europe, I think in the Netherlands? Way too far away for me, unfortunately. I don't know about any in the U.S., though.

It seems like quite an undertaking to do something like that just for DV. I mean, I would totally support it, but the cost alone would be enormous.. Perhaps it's best to instead focus on programs already in existence? I'm not sure how many of those things exist, and are feasible for people, but please post if you find out about anything.

You know, this would be an idea that you need to bring up with the admins actually. Not only that it is their site but, you also probably need to have to keep in mind the safety concerns that may pop up as well.

Including things like costs, Security, safety, what venue it is going to be at, and other things.

As much as this is a community, dreaming can be a very much independent endeavor.

It is a great idea, but not something that would actually happen. The community of people interested in dreaming is tiny. It also attracts people from every walk of life, unlike something like reef tanks or Brazilian Jiujitsu. Both those attract people who can afford an expensive hobby. I assume most of us can not afford extensive travel.

I don't see how it's something that need to be discussed with admins, do I need their permission to talk with you and other participants? If not, what's the problem discussing it and if anybody wants to take on that responsibility to do it?

Regarding the costs and travel - I never said that the idea is to have something big with lots of people, 3-10 people gatherings are ideal in my opinion, when too many people attend any meeting it becomes just a pastime. So, instead of one big event, people could organize local gatherings. It's also possible to go to a hostel and stay there, that wouldn't require much money and if it's not too far away shouldn't be too expensive.

I'm just really eager to spend some time with people who take lucid dreaming seriously, where I live it's imossible even to have a conversation about it, so bizzare it feels to other people and it just feels lonely.

From my part, I could help organizing such an event in Georgia (country) or Turkey (Antalya) - I know good places there, so if you're from around these countries or Europe it shouldn't be expensive, good hostels there cost around 20$ per day for a person. So around 300$ could cover the stay for a week add to it the tickets and that's all the expense, for something special if you're planning ahead I don't see it as a big expense.

The safety etc - I think grown up people should take responsibility for their safety, same with money, you don't need any collections etc, the only organizational part, is selecting the place and coming up with a date, that's all that's needed.

If a couple of more persons are interested in going into one of the countries I proposed, just write me a message and I'll be happy to create a chat for us to discuss meeting next year when it's warm and nice

What about the young kids and young adults? We have a wide range of ages on here.

I think it's a great idea, xdr3amer. I understand it's hard to find fellow lucid dreamers.

It'll be in the Netherlands in 2024. I hope to attend myself. I think every 4 years it's in Europe and the other years it's in America.

I went to Dr. Clare Johnson's retreat in Portugal recently. It was a very beautiful experience. I think Charlie Morley also has workshops in Europe as well as in the US.

Oh good, you can pay for everything then. All kidding aside, I would still encourage you to speak to the owners of the forum.
      Here: https://www.dreamviews.com/news-anno...ownership.html

They would have the final say.

I did have a dream once back when I first became a member here. It was a dream room. It was "Dreaming Of The Future".

What do you guys think it would look like?
I know you would probably need to do more than a retreat to learn lucid dreaming because it is more like a long game. Also, note that not every night is going to be the same for everyone.

Thats so cool! Thanks to you i learned that there is such conference. Since im from Europe i wish to attend it this year in Rolduc Abbey in Netherlands. Is there other people from the forum who wish to attend it? Its going to be my first such event to attend and im pretty excited 🙂

Have you been before to the dream conference?
Knowing its only once every 4 years in Europe is a bigger motivation for me to go, sounds like an interesting experience
