Question Separation from the physical body during OOBE

If you experienced it - can you describe the feeling of separation from the body? And what method are you using?
Do you still feel the physical body as you "go out"? Does gravity and heaviness of the physical body feel like a disturbance to you?

I recently started to learn OOBE. I'm listening to Robert Monroe's Hemi-Sync and he says that you should imagine yourself as a rolling log in the water (and floating). For a faint moment I felt that sensation and what he ment but I got too excited and overthought everything. I know that I shouldn't have any specific expectations and just practice but I'm looking for tips which may guide me a little. And I'm just curious about others experiences.

Bonus question, which goes also for WILDs I guess: My eyes doesn't want to stay closed during the process, is this because of not enough relaxation in this area? They're constantly moving and it's so distracting. Not to mention breathing problems but that's probably just the general anxiety.

An important point that is hard to grasp, is that you ARE trying to fall asleep. You will want to hold onto some hint of awareness, but just a hint. Failing to fall asleep is definitely going to cause a fail. Sure, loosing awareness is also a fail, but start with sleep. You must not be thinking or you will stay awake. Learn about Anchoring or Anchors, which are a way of maintaining some hint of awareness without keeping your mind active.

Hi ! I was influenced by another method
Usually i set an alarm for 6 hours, wake up and go to pee and return so as not to be distracted by urinary issues during the remaining sleep but this step is optional. Then I return to bed and try to remember that as soon as i recognize i am waking up, I try to rub my hands and body in my imagination, as well as try to move my body in my imagination. Then the imagination takes a life of its own and i can feel a dream body which then allows me to roll out of bed in a OOBE. So the feeling is similar to waking up, only that your body is lighter, number.

I should add that this usually occurs when I am sleeping facing upwards and no to the sides. You have to remind to keep trying to sleep upwards without risking insomnia.

      Hope it helps

I have to start by saying that I'm happy I had some experience with OBE before I have read other people's experiences. Because mine were nothing like it's mostly described and I'm glad I wasn't influenced by others descriptions. What I have read later is that people have sensations of actually separating, it may be hard, you may get stuck in certain part of the body and such.

I had none of it before or even after I read those depictions. Maybe because I "knew" that these experiences are personal and if you believe that you will separate easily, then that's how it will go for you.

I had my first OBE when I was one day trying to WILD. I was having hard time so I "gave up". I rolled to my side and decided to just go to sleep. Next thing I know, I'm looking at my ceiling from maybe 12 inches away. My body is hanging just below the ceiling on it's back and I can feel it at the same time as I;m aware of my physical body laying on it's side on the bed.

My next experience was few days later. Also attempting to WILD and I guess I dozed off. Next thing I know is my subtle legs are sticking up to the ceiling at steep angle, while rest of my subtle body was still inside the physical one.

I have had a few more what I call to myself "genuine OBEs". I have never felt the actual separation. When I was just hovering about my body or body parts sticking out of me, I was always aware of both of my bodies. And my awareness what shifting from one set of eyes to the other one and back.

When I rolled out or stood up from my body, I immediately lost awareness of my physical body and felt to be present only in the subtle body.

This was years ago. Between then and now I have only had what I call WILDs. I started by entering my WILDs through visuals. Later on I started to roll out of my body, sit up, stand up or levitate myself up. To be honest, this type of an exit is same as OBEers describe some types of their exits. Makes me question what am I doing, haha.

Induction techniques and reality checks https://www.dreamviews.com/induction...ds-techniques/
      Sageous's WILD class https://www.dreamviews.com/wild/

      Basic steps:
      1. WILD after at least 3-4 hrs of sleep, so you are close to next REM
      2. WBTB really helps Wakefulness Makes Lucidity More Likely
      3. Your goal is to fall asleep
      4. Try your WILD exit without waiting for any clues
      5. As you are trying to fall asleep, use your mantras to keep your mind on task
      6. Start mental commands to stand up, sit up, roll out or levitate up AND imagine yourself doing it without moving actual muscles even if you are 100% sure you are still awake!
      7. Do motionless reality checks to see if you are already dreaming

I like to play with creating tactile sensations with my mind. Start with just imagining that you are moving your fingers. If you start to feel as if you are moving a ghost like hand, then try imagining that you are slowly rotating as if on a wheel. This should take your spirit body out of synch with your real body. If you get to that point you can picture/feel yourself walking (without standing up) and this can free you all together. Note: I am not convinced this OOBE is actually anything too far beyond a lucid dream as the things I have seen may be similar to the physical world but rooms may be out of place and objects may be there that are not IRL. Still this is a reasonable method of creating the OOBE regardless of what actually happens as far as real vs dream.
